Q: The water heater for the mate must be placed directly inside the thermos?

It is very easy to use. You simply submerge it in water and plug it into the car lighter hole. When you finish and unplug it, be careful when placing it down because it will remain very hot for a few seconds.

Q: How do i remove thermos lid to refil it?

First, unscrew the cup/lid from the top, now you can see the black plastic part with the white round push-button lid, you need to unscrew the black part to refill the thermos. (counter-clockwise) note: it can be a little tight or hard to unscrew because it has a seal to avoid leaks. After refilled make sure to screw that lid tight again. DS
