Lots of great advice; but not so much if you live in the countryside
I have given this book 4 stars and really wanted to give it 5, as I do think it is fairly brilliant. What stops me giving it 5, well the fact again, that here is another book that assumes you live in a city, or at least suburbia and probably jump in a taxi or at least a car, to go anywhere. Yes, I have lived in these locations in the past, and yes there is loads of useful advice in this book, much of it brilliant, which would be useful if I still lived in those locations. I take on board the advice about colour, great stuff, about choosing and knowing your style, this is all great too, as is all the motivational stuff and stuff about make up and skin care. Sadly though, and it really hurts me to say this, not a lot applies if you live in a windswept countryside area. I have not worn a "proper" jacket with lapels for years, except at a funeral or other odd event, or sometimes on holiday. This leaves about 340 days a year when you need a hood of some kind, incase the weather changes quickly, as it often does, when wide flappy trousers or loose dresses would get soaked and you need flat walking shoes, or trainers of some sort. How to make that all look stylish, that is the quest I am still on. I have bought any number of self help clothing books (yes I am a sucker for them, as I do love clothes actually), but all seem to be written from this same urban/suburban standpoint. I am a big fan of Trinnys and tried to think about adapting the modern classics style last night, how to make that work? I think it also might have helped to have seen more examples of different body types perhaps (yes, I know there are a few scattered throughout the book). I am tall, fairly slim, a size 12, 69 years of age, used to teach art and design and love fashion, but sadly not a lot of help personally in choosing clothes for me in this book because of where I live ; or perhaps I just have not seen the answers correctly yet? I will carry on reading it and hope something becomes clearer, as love Trinny so much and don't want to give up on it yet.I have upped the stars to 5 from 4, because this is such a good book, and not Trinnys fault, where I live! Still trying to work something out re own style though!! Today I bought a very long bright green puffer in a fashionable cut, with hood, practical but looks very contemporary in style, a departure from the usual black, and having a sort through my wardrobe as well, so maybe this book is working its magic!

What to say about Trinny?!
I discovered Trinny on facebook when I was caring for my mother who was dying - I had some terribly dark days and very long nights. Late one night I was scanning facebook to take my mind away from what was happening and found Trinny - and it is no exaggeration to say she was like a ray on warm sunshine that envelopes you. Since then (end of 2019) I have watched every facebook video and every You Tube video of Trinny. I have bought her amazing makeup that I wear every day.Her knowledge is immense on fashion, skin care and make-up but there is only so much info you can retain by watching her videos, so it is FANTASTIC that she has put all this knowledge into one book that you can pick up and select what information you need that day. It is my daily go-to book as well as following her on social media. So, THANK YOU Trinny for being that sunshine, for helping me through dark days and nights, and for giving me a new make up routine and a beautiful looking, amazing book that all women should have.Highly recommend with a 5 stars.

Heavy book
Great book for seeing how to dress better. The fact of fashion is having fun with clothes and that’s exactly the point in this book. Lots of reading in the book. Definitely promoting fearless dressing and other scenarios. Did get slightly bored. Maybe not my kind of book.

Superb!
What a surprise to open this book, and find so many gifts and aha moments in the pages. Every turn of the page bright new insight, and it’s suddenly woken me up to wanting to be the best version of myself. It’s easy to get stuck in dressing the way we always do, or following the same routines.Trinny has outdone herself with this book. It’s a “must” for ever woman who is ready to either shake up her life, and add some vavavoom, or who is ready to dive in and see how she can elevate herself to the best version of herself. This is always a great luxury, coffee table book, and is beautifully printed.

A Lifestyle lasagne
I bought this as I love Trinny, her positivity and how much advice she already freely gives away building up and empowering women. This book does not disappoint. It covers skincare, style, make up, finding out what colours suits you and touches on other things such as hormones, friendships and life in general. It's a lifestyle lasagne of information, with layers of tips and tricks to looking and feeling your most confident self. Do yourself a favour, buy this book.

Disappointing
Oh, I was so disappointed with this book. I love Trinny and have all her old books from years ago, such respect for her achievements and her fashion and beauty knowledge is amazing, but this book just didn't bring anything new to the table for me.I would've like more advice and reference on body shapes and what basic clothing styles to wear. Trinny modelled for alot of the sections and we're not all Trinnys height and shape for a start! I am actually, but still found myself confused and some of her ideas are just not "wearable" for many populations, budgets and lifestyles. Gorgeous clothing photos of Trinny, but for "normal" people, with "realistic" lives just not viable. Most of us go to work, walk the dog, do the school run and dash to the supermarket, we'd look ridiculous doing all that in sequins and loads of bright colours! A section on "real" life dressing would have been jolly useful. The section on colours was ok but I'm still not clear about what colour my skin actually is! So tricky for me to get my head around the colour section. I can understand Trinny mentioning the colours from her make up range, because hey why wouldn't she plug her own brand, but it didn't sit comfortably with me as it's a premium price and not accessible for some.I guess the skin care section was a helpful reference but for many people "into" skin care this would be nothing new.All in all I returned the book, as I knew it would just sit on my book shelf gathering dust!
