Not Yet Used
We've bought this for long car journeys. We had one exactly the same before but I gave it to my elderly dad. That one had a slight leak problem when we used it and left it un emptied for a short while albeit in a carrier bag, and really just a tiny amount. Also when washing out with bleach and leaving the bleach solution in the bottle with the top on, it leaks on the draining board. My car windows have privacy glass so it's useful when you are out and about and where there are no Public WC's or there are but they charge. spacious enough for a man, and the funnel works great for a lady (or so I am told). We're off soon up to Yorkshire in the car so it will be coming with us, if this one doesn't leak I'll come back and give it 5 stars.4 stars for the old one as it's given us a lot of relief and is convenient. 5 for the new one if it proves sound.

What a relief!
When you're a middle-aged man, camping (to visit the superb Great Dorset Steam Fair), and like a couple/three beers in the evening, then the prospect of emerging from a warm sleeping bag, getting dressed, tramping over to the "facilities" in the damp September night, then reversing the above and trying to get back to sleep... ...two or three times a night, is not an enticing prospect. Enter this superb device, with its wide spout and screw cap, and the problem is solved! You can roll out of your sleeping bag, do the necessary, and go back to sleep, almost without waking up (I did say almost). You just have to mentally ignore the noise, because thoughts of neighbouring tent occupants hearing what's going on, and the relaxation of the appropriate muscles, do not go well together! The only downside is the opaque red plastic it is made from, as it is impossible to see how full it is, and you have to screw the cap on before putting it down, to ensure no spillage. I bought three of these, so I did not have to risk a second go into one receptacle. (Jasper Carrott's story of having a medical springs to mind). On a practical note, just make sure they are watertight (preferably using water). The end of the spout can have moulding flash still attached and, if present, this needs careful cutting off. Also, I felt that the inside edge of the spout was a little sharp, so I carefully sanded the sharpness off on my ones. But that's probably just me.All in all, these are great.PS. For a female view you'll have to read elsewhere. I have no information.

Attractive design but poorly engineered
I bought this portable urinal over other models primarily based on the positive reviews and the fact that it looks less "clinical" than many of the other ones on amazon (which are square-edged and either white or blue plastic) - this on the other hand is curved and just looks more like a domestic product and less clinical somehow. It does the job although a couple of times now it has leaked slightly (it surprised me that neither this model nor any of the others seem to have a rubber o-ring or similar to ensure seal and just rely on the "interference fit" of the plastic lid. An O-ring really should be added.)The main frustration I have with it however is that its poorly designed - it clearly has a flat base that it is designed to be sat on, but the cap is so heavy that it makes it unstable on the base and tips it forward (spout down). This is obviously a major design flaw in a product designed to contain urine. It needs to be designed with more weight to the rear, or have the flat base extend further forward.

This is a brilliant piece of kit
This is a brilliant piece of kit. Having just moved into a 450yr old farmhouse that has only one bathroom...downstairs and at the other end of the house from our bedroom...it became imperative to find something we could use if we got caught short in the night, rather than going arse over tit down the stairs trying to dash to the loo.Once you get over the "what the hell am i doing?" moment..the "lady bit" is very easy to use... the whole thing is solidly made and easy to hold. Some have said it leaks... we haven't found this at all. It's made so that it doesn't sit level unless there's liquid in it.. then it's fine. Sits perfectly level & well balanced. It's not designed for waving round sloshing stuff about. Checking you've screwed the cap on properly is wise. Also saw a review that said it didn't hold much so couldn't use it more than once in the night. It holds 1.2 litres... someone must have a bucket for a bladder if they can fill this in one go!!!Made our lives much easier until we can get an upstairs look fitted that's for sure. Can see it being a total godsend for people struggling to get out of bed as well.
