Description

Durable, corrosion-resistant decorative coating for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and wood. Decorative appearance, smooth to the touch, and sheds water well. Can be applied directly to rusted metal. No need for primer or undercoat. Corrosion-resistant. Hammerite forms an excellent barrier that not only seals out moisture but also provides long-lasting protection indoors and outdoors. Preparation: Abrade smooth surfaces and remove all loose rust and flaking paint with a wire brush. Remove dirt, dust, and grease with diluted dish soap. Wipe with clean water and allow time to dry. Apply a test patch of Hammerite Metal Protectant Paint directly onto rust on painted surfaces and leave for 1 hour. If there is no reaction, apply Hammerite Metal Protectant Paint directly onto the rust. If there is a reaction, remove all paint before applying Hammerite Metal Protectant Paint directly onto the rust. On zinc, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces, apply Hammerite Special Metals Primer before applying Hammerite Metal Protectant Paint directly onto rust. Ideal application temperature 825°C. Stir lightly before use. Do not mix. Do not mix paint from two cans or combine colors. Brush application: Do not apply thinly. On previously painted metal, one coat should be sufficient. On bare rusted metal, two coats are required. Ensure all edges and corners are covered. Do not over-apply, as sagging will occur. Conventional spray application: Thinly dilute with Hammerite Brush Cleaner thinner to a ratio of 15 with solvents for painting. Set spray gun to 25-35 PSI and use full fan spray at maximum volume. Apply four thin coats. Allow one hour between coats. Refer to the spray equipment manufacturer's guidelines for the correct and safe operation of sprayers. Touch dry after 4 hours, 12 hours range
