Q: Can I get replacement rubber gaskets for this float? Mine is worn out and leaking

I am not sure if you can get a replacement but I took mine apart and just moved the rubber to a new position and fixed mine. Mine would not shut off. It would keep running and overflow. Try taking the float out and turn the rubber seal to a new spot.

I did not use the metal brackets I made a mounting out of !/2" regular plastic tubing which I secured to the float unit with nylon screws and nylon wing nuts from Home Depot as I was concerned about the salt reaction on the metal. The whole unit lasted around 4 years and the only failure was the washer on the float that shuts off the flow. It was in my pool 24/7 all those years but after rain when the level rose the float was forced to press hard on the outlet and eventually caused an indentation that stopped it from cutting off the water flow. I could not find any suitable replacement in any hardware stores so I had to buy another complete float valve. Lesson learned, when the water rises above shut off level lift the valve out and turn off the supply until the water is lowered manually or evaporates naturally.

Q: Is there no way to adjust the float? I bought two of these, & after 6 months both now allow the tank to overflow even sitting as far down as possible.

These kinds of systems have the flaw that eventually the plastic nipple that presses into the rubber o-ring / seal will eventually wear through it and then water comes out continuously. You will probably home some warning before it fails catastrophically - it will start always filling very slowly but get progressively worse. If your o-ring has a hole in it other than where the screw securing it is then this is what happened. The fix is loosen the screw securing the o-ring, rotate it 180 degree and tighten the screen again. You can probably do this a half dozen times or so before you need to get a new o-ring. For me a similar device lasted a year, fortunately I figured it out before it over-filled my pool. I was able to fix it in just a few minutes once I figured out what was going wrong.

Q: I have a 1/4 inch pipe in place from a previous float valve. Can this be adapted to fit this pipe?

You should be able to find an adapter at one of the big box stores. The valve is threaded for a standard garden hose male end.
