Q: How difficult is it to replace the bearings?

It is very difficult, but doable. Your basically taking the tub out of the machine. That in itself is a lot of work due to the fact you need to remove all the wire and plumbing components. Basically all the things attached to the tub has to be removed. Once you do that you get to the bearings to remove them. The tub is in 2 parts (has two parts) unscrew 8 to 10 screws. Remove inner tub and walla there is the bearings you need to knock out with a hammer and screwdriver.

If the wash tub has a lot of movement you will most likely also need a new spider drum support.
