Q: Does it work with 230V DC?

Yes, but you may use any led with suitable resistance ( with suitable power deception ), if you are thinking to use this product then you may disconnect the capacitive dropper and the rectification ( if exists) circuit. Dont worry about the voltage, and insulation factor as RMS 230V AC has higher potential difference than 230V DC. If this is good for AC will be good for same DC voltage too. Be extra cautious, otherwise 230v DC will kill you.

Q: Can I connect this indicator to the AC socket directly??

For your protection have a 10k resistor externally, have it wrapped in heat shrink tube. That will also prolong the life of the LEDs as cheap Chinese capacitors used inside degrade with time. If you wish you can add a 1W diode too that will make it last even longer as only half cycle will illuminate the light.
