Anyone compared this machine to a Dyson? I just bought a Dyson C33 which I really like, but I am wondering if I am missing out.

I've had both. Oreck is lighter and easy on the shoulders and getting upstairs. Oreck requires paper bags. I liked the dyson but I now am in the position of buying another motor head part for approx $120. This is the second time it has gone out in 5 years. I imagine it is due to the 3 pets and 2 long hair family members. Do I buy an Oreck or do I buy the replacement part? I am trying to decide. My old Oreck still works but it needs a $70 part. I don't use it often, I repaired it with tape. I also own an old little lite bissell, it is light weight and performs reasonably well. Keep it in a little studio/room I have for visitors to clean up with. I think the Oreck brush picks up more pet hair and stuff that sits on top of the carpet whereas the dyson really sucks the dirt from the carpet. It sucks some of my floor carpets right into it, which probably contributed to the motor head part, aka the plastic part that turns the beater brush to break. Dyson makes you buy the whole assembly when the problem both times has been these little plastic pieces that the motor turns, they fit into brush and make the brush turn. They break. Wish they were steel! Dream on.

I am about to buy the XL2100RHS but do not want to use the thin, cheap commercial bags. Is there a HEPA bag that fits this product?

Where do you get bag dock for this?

My daughters and i all have long hair that we have to cut out of the vacuum brush. How is this vacuum with hair?

Any vacuum with a rotating brush is going to get tangled with long hairs but this is actually a good thing. All upright vacuums have the fan that pulls the dirt in, in front of the bag so all the hair and stuff has to go past the spinning fan first. You can hear this whenever something hard is picked up and can be heard hitting the fan blades, not good. Any long hairs or string that gets past the rotating brush, is going to get tangled on the fan which you cannot get to, to cut them out. This will cause the fan to run hot and shorten the life of the machine.

Which Oreck is best for residential use?

The only major difference between this and some of the lower end residential XL models of years past is the "Commercial" marking, the cord color, and the lack of a bag dock which can be retrofitted. It is also highly likely this can be upgraded to a two speed model by simply installing an Oreck 2 speed switch.
