IRWIN Tools VISE-GRIP Locking Pliers, Original, Curved Jaw, 5-inch (4935579),Silver Metallic

This is a nice little tool that works well when you do not need the regular sized vise grip. It comes in handy for all kinds of things, and is well built!

These are the dull finished Chinese version of the vise grip. Nothing special about them, but they work as I had expected.

GREAT QUAILTY GREAT TOOL

I wasn't impressed with the construction quality out of the package, nor the durability after the first use. Gripping power could be better and the jaws quickly became unaligned. Presuming this is a genuine tool, normally I like Irwin locking pliers, but this little guy disappointed greatly.

I've owned Vise Grip tools for years -decades. In fact I the ones I own are over 20 years old and all still work well. Sturdy and heavy duty and adjusting screw turns smooth. This is my first Vise-Grip Irwin (and my last) since the original Vice Grip didn't make this size. Very disappointing and not typical Vise Grip quality from the past. The screw to open and close jaws didn't turn smooth was rough and metal was light not as dense as all my other vintage Vise Grips. The interior of the jaws rather then being rounded oval shaped like the old pliers are more vee shaped. I'm glad I bought all my other Vise Grips in the Old Days when Quality was King aka pre 2000 when China cheap manufacturing stated replacing USA quality manufacturing and the New Age CEOs instead of focusing on innovation and quality to make a profit took the easier road and opted to profit instead from using cheaper materials period and of course the sweet spot cheap Chinese Labor. USA manufactures don't have to worry about EPA regulations and those onerous USA Labor Laws that protect workers in China. China isn't the Workers Paradise it's the USA Businessmans paradise.

The Original

Good quality product. Teeth are sharp, grip is firm. I like them.

Even though Vise-Grip appears to be made by IRWIN Tools now, this is NOT the original curved jaw Vise-Grip. The quality is great, but the jaws are NOT the same as the original. The curved jaw has been replaced by a jaw suitable for gripping a nut or a bolt head... BUT NOT THE ORIGINAL TAPERED JAW suitable for gripping a much wider range of shapes. Take a look at your local hardware store before choosing the shape of this jaw.
