Great cb.
It Don't get any better this. I installed it in my truck in less than fifteen minutes , with my existing coax and antenna. Worked perfectly, without having to tune it.Sound quality is good even without an external speaker. On the interstate , I'm getting out approximatly 2.5 to 3 miles.Should you have to adjust it, the instructions are easy to read, easy to understand, and easy to follow.

Great radio with great sound.
I've had this radio for almost 2 months now and finally decided to write a review. Let me start out by saying that my knowledge of CB's is extremely limited and Everything I've learned, is from reading as much as I can in these last 3 months. I went with the Cobra 29 LX because I liked the newer modern faceplate and the 29 seems to be a popular choice. Along with the radio, I purchased a Wilson T2000 Antenna which is 4.5ft tall. I also bought a Astatic 636L mic to replace the factory one with. I made a custom bracket out of some scrap iron and mounted it on the rear of my F250 inside the bed, and for the radio, I made a custom mount by bending some metal into L-brackets and mounting them under the center console (see pictures to see what I mean. Lastly, I mounted an external speaker above my head and ran a long 3.5mm audio cable through the head liner, down the A-pillar and under the carpet to the radioBefore I even ran all the power wires for the radio. Before I ran all the power and ground wires for the radio, I had a CB shop peak and tune the radio. After it was all said and done, the radio dead keyed right under 6 watts of power and peaked right under 30 watts. From what I've read this seems to be the average for a basic peak and tune. I got the SWR nice and low 1.1-1.2 across all channels. So how does it perform? It performs amazing I think. So far everyone has told me how loud and clear it sounds to them. I usually talk on Ch 19 but as you know, Ch19 seems to be really dead these days where hours would go by without hearing a word. Tonight, While I was fueling up my truck, I talked with a guy who was a local and told me that him and a lot of other locals guys talk on Ch 28 and ch36 every night. He came in loud and clear and said that I was also coming in loud as if I was just a few miles away from him and asked me my location. When I gave it to him he couldnt believe I was able to hit him back so clearly because we were about about 20 miles apart (straight shot, not driving distance) I ended up talking with him and a few other guys who were all in the 15-20 mile range all running home base stations with towers and big power and they all complemented how well I sounded. I don't know much about CB's but I'm told that the Antenna is a big part of the performance you get. Either way, I'm very happy with this radio. At some point I'll likely add a linear amp to it but for now it works great and talks far.I do have one complaint wit the radio. Every time I set the clock and turn it on to show up, the next time I turn the truck back on after it's been turned off, the clock go away and resets its self. It's as if it isn't saving it in the memory. I remembers what my last channel I was on and every other feature that I've custom set...Everythin BUT the clock. It's not a huge deal to me since I have a clock about 1 foot above the radio anyway but just thought it was worth noting.

Great CB works as it should
I have always been a fan of Cobra cb’s and haven’t had one in many years. I got this over a year ago and it works just as great as they used to. I only wish I would have bought a different antenna system than what I did. I will upgrade eventually I guess.

Great radio, definitely recommend
Love the radio, works great, and cant go wrong with weather band.. my fav feature is the auto scan.. i set my squelch a little higher tha most people,im going to list the cons rather than the pros.. simply because if u care about these.. dont get the radio.. otherwize ur getting a nice radioauto scan - have to set squelch a little higher than normal for it to scan more often.. otherwise it will get stuck on a signal that comes in and outswr meter.. not worth anything ... stick to an external. but that was expectedlittle annoying noise that seems to happen everytime someone unkeys their mic, thought it was RF problems. but hear it on same model in other vehicles as well.. u probably wont even notice it, but now u will since i pointed it out.no adjustments on the mounting bracket.. the way i have mine mounted in my jeep ,the cb has a gangster lean.. if it had a slide slot on the mount for up and down. i could lvl it..the mic seems pretty cheap in my hand.. although i was whispering it and people could hear me clearly and loudvolume knobs too small and hard to turn on / off

Best CB for the money can’t beat it
I’ve had the CB for approximately one and a half years, it’s been from the East End all the way to the West End of the US. It is a low priced high-quality CB it is relentless it works well it sounds quality is great. It does have a small echo if you choose to use an echo back, I would absolutely stick this in any other car I had matter of fact, the drivers for the company all bought one. They are absolutely amazing and for the price you can’t beat it.

Great looking Cobra radio
I like the look and features of this radio. We primarily use it for weather alerts as we travel.

Disappointed
I opted to buy this more expensive cobra C.B. radio to get the weather alert channel during bad weather. After having the radio for about 35 days with only an hour to an hour and a half of total use monitoring only the speaker function quit working. I had it attached to a cobra external speaker and thought the speaker had gone bad but after disconnecting it, there was no sound coming from the speaker in the radio itself, and the external speaker worked fine when attached to oy other radios. Since I had the radio over 30 days amazon wouldn't do anything and I had to contact Cedar, the parent company for Cobra where I got the runaround, but I had registered the warranty and sent them the screen shot of the Amazon order they requested and they agreed it was well within warranty and they would process a refund/replacement of the radio. However 10 days has passed with no refund or further communication from them. I am going to have to pursue them further to hopefully get my radio replaced. Very disappointed. ******* update. Cedar Electronics has now offered a provisional replacement. I am required to return the radio with everything that came in the box (AT MY EXPENSE)and they will decide what (if anything) they will do to make it right. Keep in mind this radio was brand new with only 4 hrs or so total hours monitoring only used indoors only with a clear proof of purchase and registered warranty and this is Cobra/Cedar Electronics customer service. Do yourself a favor and don't buy a cobra.
