No, as it has Made In China molded into the battery cover.

Q: Why would you want to use 4 aa batteries if 2 aa batteries work?

Hi, With 4 batteries you achieve a higher runtime with optimal brightness so if you think you'll need it for an extended period of time and in the brightest setting, 4 AA batteries would be recommended. On the other hand, during an emergency situation, if you don't have 4AAs, just 2, you can still use your light. Hope this helped. Thanks

Q: This lantern is very dim on the 4x amazon aa rechargeables. is it expected? does it reqiures alkaline aa batteries only to provide bright 200lm light?

I just use Duracell batteries (not rechargeable). Mine are very bright this way.
