Important words for uncertain times
Max Lucado has hit a home run with his 40th book. Bringing encouragement and hope in these uncertain times is like receiving a huge breath of fresh air. Max Lucado reminds us that when all else fails, there is always hope. Hope is a four-letter word for expectation. It expresses a deep yearning in one’s heart. Faith is the glue that holds our hopes in our heart. We all hope for one thing or another during our lifetime. We hope you have a good day; We hope you succeed; We hope your dreams come true, etc. But, what exactly is the reality of hope? In one sense hope can be defined as wishing for something and expecting it to materialize. Perhaps the best way to find an answer is to dissect the word itself. So, take a look at the word hope as it relates to our lives: H:To have hope we must have a compassionate heart for those around us; O:To have hope we must be optimistic and believe in our vision; P: To have hope we must persevere and keep moving forward in faith; E: To have hope we must encourage one another in truth. Thank you Max Lucado for writing so generously and giving us this roadmap on how to build our lives on the promises of God....AMEN!

4.5 stars!
I took a little pause from my current TBR, a pause from my 2021 reading challenge, and a pause from the world to sneak in this book about hope and I'm so glad I did! To date, I haven't read a single Max Lucado book I haven't liked. He is so gentle and encouraging in his delivery and there is something inspiring and comforting about that. As a Christian in a season of grief, I have been clinging even tighter to the promise of a Savior. I am not ashamed to admit I need Jesus because, listen, I love Jesus but I'm a mess. I can be hot tempered, sharp tongued, and just... a hot mess. But thanks be to God all of that is washed by the blood and I am enough just as I am. No need for perfection because I'll always fall short. I don't know about you but my soul is WEARY. And I needed some hope. So I hit pause on all other voices and let God speak. And Max Lucado did a great job reminding us how to hold on to hope, where our hope comes from, and that we cannot let go of hope. I almost cried happy tears! I feel calmer and more peaceful already and I highly recommend this one. To everyone. Because everyone needs hope.

What’s better than learning about the promises God has made to us and knowing He doesn’t break them! Ever! I loved this book. Came in perfect condition.

No better reminder of the Hope we have.
This is year six (6) of my battle with Cancer. I came to Jesus in a Southern Baptist church when I was 18 years old I then spent the next 50 years running from the promise, living as if all I needed were my skills and talents. Right up until the day my Oncologist discussed with me what my options were for treatment. The last six years have been filled with, Surgery, Radiation, Chemotherapy, and prayer. For me knowing what comes next is a comfort. It would be my prayer for anyone reading this to take heart. God knows and He cares!
