Learning curve, but worth it
I have tried countless self-tanners over the years, drug store brands, Tan Towels, St Tropez, gradual self-tanners, Coola, and numerous ones from Amazon of spray, foam, and lotion forms, tinted or not-tinted. My skin is snow white and I self-tan my legs during the warm months for a summer glow. I am always looking for that perfect tanner, keeping in mind quality of color, streakiness, ease of application, smell, and staining of sheets/clothes. I’ve never found anything perfect, but was intrigued by Clean Tan due to its unique application. I bought the larger bottle and have found that there has been a huge learning curve, which might deter some, but I have figured out how to use this to what works best for me. Here is what I have learned: of course, you must exfoliate and put extra lotion or balm on your heels or any drier areas. I use OGX Creamy Coconut Miracle Oil lotion, which smells heavenly and is the perfect consistency for mixing with the drops and applying. You have to have a real recipe for drops and lotion and it is more than what some reviewers have said (some said they got no result at all but you can not just use a few drops). I have found that 2 Tablespoons of lotion and 1+ tsp (maybe 1.5 tsp) of clean tan drops mixed in a small bowl with a spoon or spatula until it is blended to a consistency of yogurt/pudding in a color between caramel and chocolate is about the correct amount to cover both of my entire legs. I always use a tanning mitt and apply evenly with circular strokes until it is completely absorbed. It will be a little tacky for awhile, up to 30 minutes. I usually apply before bed and wake up with a nice tan. As for results, the tan is a great, natural color, no streaks at all if you are thorough with blending, which I find is easier with lotion than with foam or spray. My picture shows my untanned arm for reference. The smell is certainly better than with many other tanners (esp with the OGX lotion), but eventually that DHA scent does appear. Once you shower the smell shouldn’t be an issue. There is still some sheet staining, which I find with all self tanners, no matter what they claim, though it is definitely less than with some other tanners. This tan is fairly long-lasting, I only tan once a week. It fades fairly gradually, I am definitely lighter by the 6th-7th day but still not completely pale. Holy grail, no, but there’s a lot to like about this tanner especially once I figured out the ratios. I plan to stick with this one for now.

FINALLY!!!
First off, I'm an old school, self tanning regular. I'm predominantly Irish/Scottish and we all know what that means in regards to skin tone. I've been been mildly obsessed with having healthy, tanned looking skin the large majority of my life. And although I am a huge proponent of the belief that we are so much more than what we look like on the outside, there's no mistaking how great we feel when we have that elusive, sun-kissed glow. With all that being said, I consider myself somewhat of an expert when it comes to self tanning and the products that come along with. I started with Bain de Soliel back in the 90's for reference ;) So onto the review! PROS There are some seriously great things about this product. You simply mix it with your own regular lotion which is great. I only use natural lotion without all the chemicals, so this is a major plus as it's good to keep toxic chemicals to a minimum people! Also, because it's just your own lotion, you don't have to walk around naked for an hour with some bizarre, sticky concoction all over you waiting for it to dry. Another positive is that you get to completely control the level of darkness you want to achieve. I go for the darker look, so that means mixing equal parts lotion with the tanning solution (which is a watery liquid consistency). I just mix it up in the palm of my hand real quick and slather away. Even though there isn't much of a color "guide" it's ok. You only need to make sure you've blended it all into your skin well and as evenly as you can. Another great thing about this product is you don't have to be SO CAREFUL about all of that. It seems to just kind of blend naturally. I've never had any streaks or weird uneven looking areas. Even on my back, which is hard to reach and blend. It always just looks smooth. Other positives are that the color is really good. Not fake looking. Perhaps if you used too much it has the potential to be a tad orange. But mine has always looked really natural. And the "fake tan smell" is hardly noticeable and doesn't linger for days like some other brands. CONS The pros definitely outweigh the cons, but I have to mention. I think you get the best application when you apply with your bare hands, but even after vigorously washing my hands after, my palms were always stained. I'm still toying with this part. Last time I washed my hands 4 or so times throughout application so my palms were't exposed to to the solution for long. And then took a wash cloth and soap and scrubbed my palms at the very end. There was minimal staining and was hardly noticeable. Totally gone in a day. I haven't tried with a mitt yet.. So in conclusion, this is my favorite self tanner! I'm really happy with this product, hence the long review.. Happy tanning!

Works with Serums
I wasn't sure if this product could be used with light face serums, but it worked perfectly! I was looking for a face tanner that was also good for your skin and this was the perfect product since I could stick to my normal skin regimen and just add this in. I thought the serum mix may get streaky since it's so thin, but it was fine. I would say it takes some time to figure out how many drops are necessary for the color you want. I started out with just 2-3 drops and it was very light natural tan. I added 1-2 extra drops the next time and got to the shade I wanted.

Requires a lot to see a difference
Liked the idea of this as I always mix my tanning serums with my lotion. Disappointed at the reality of it. It is nice for adding a little hint of color to my face, but it doesn't do much for the body. First of all, even with doing the 1:1 ratio, the color is light and orange tinted. I am fairly fair skinned. Second, the "mini me" size, for $12.99, is the size of an EYE DROPPER. Literally. That's my bad for not reading the size description, yes, but holy crap! There are better self tanning options out there.

Smells
I'm not sure about the claims of organic because it has the same smell as any tanner I have used. It does do a good job and but it is hard to get consistency when mixing yourself. I think it has a very strong smell which was disappointing because it's the thing I hate about self tanners. Color is nice though.
