Q: Will this fit on a 5cm/2inch wide desk edge?

Base Clamp is padded and expandable up to 6cm / 2.35inch.

Q: Is there a compatible pole mount that has a lower minimum height that's less than 55cm?

The thread at the top is 1/4” (6.35mm) that connects the light to the stand. I’ve not tested this as I use the stand it comes with but I would assume any stand with that size connector at the top would work. Also worth looking at the Keylight air? It’s stand is shorter.

Q: Is it suitable to brighten my desk instead of a monitor light? To help reading etc

It lights up my entire room for green screen/stream use it’s more than enough for reading etc
