There are a lot of these sets but I settled on this one for the reviews, price, and amount of spacers. Even with the amount they give you, you will want more spacers. But that's not a fault of this product as it already has a lot more than the comparable products. This set has a two-sided mallet - I found the yellow metal side ideal for hammering boards on the long groove side together and the rubber ideal for hammering boards on the short end into each other. The spacers are in two pieces like a wedge and you do have to put two of them together to get the proper edge spacing you need for installing a laminate floor like Pergo. This set also comes with a small pry bar with a long and short edge. This worked great when reaching the end of the row to seat all the floor boards into each other tightly. Just slip the shorter edge against the wall on either side and hammer it from both sides to ensure they are connected. The tapping block worked amazingly well but you do have to be careful that the block is always flat on the floor so the groove of your plank is within the groove on the block so as not to damage it. A few times I caught it not seated which caused me to break the groove on a board and render it unusable. I would recommend you have a weightier mallet to use for hammering boards down to lock them in place however, as I feel like trying to do that with this mallet would be near impossible. As far as durability - I had no problems with the mallet coming apart as some reviews mentioned. At the end of the project, flooring a 300 sq. ft. room, at maybe about 5'x5' or so left, the tapping block was really significantly damaged but still looked like it would survive for another project. There is a sticker with the company name on it which had come off almost completely, and there were some serious bending and dents in the side where I was hammering it from, but the groove edge was fine. Overall a set like this is a necessity for installing laminate flooring. I think this set was high quality for not being high price. I wish it came with more spacers but like I mentioned the amount it comes with is already more than most of the others do. Thank you for a great product!

Handle comes loose on the block after a couple blows with the hammer. Have to keep tightening. Other than that works well.

This is a nice set to have when installing LVT or other vinyl/laminate flooring. The set includes 40 spacers, Double-Faced Mallet, Pull Bar and Tapping Block. The Pull Bar (shown upside down) has two soft pads on the BOTTOM side to prevent scratching when tapping to pull the two sections of LVT together. The short side is placed against the LVT and the long end is where you lightly tap the bar with the rubber end of the mallet to close up the section. The Tapping Block has a feature I totally recommend and that is a flat side and a slotted side. The slotted side fits nicely against the LVT plank to help prevent damage as you are tapping the sections together. The handle as well, makes it easy to slide AND hold the block in place as you are tightening up the sections. You might think 40 spacers are over kill but you would be surprised just how many you need as you are installing a run. There are many types of installation kits out there and if you are in the business of installing flooring you might want to consider a different kit but for me, this kit was just right for my needs.

I just got this today so I won’t use it till later this week. But it seems to be a good quality. Lots of shims. The hammer block is a good size and one side has grooves to match the LVT, in order to keep the block from sliding up.

The mallet and shims worked fine. The tapping block was essentially useless because it was too light and small. The pull bar worked ok but didn't seem very high quality, the mallet end bent until it was almost useless after only installing 150 sqft of flooring.

I had to replace the parquet in one of the rooms in my house so I purchased this product for its intended purpose. I can say that it did a great job and I finished the room in two days with it.

The last time I put down a laminate floor, I didn't have all of this stuff because I didn't know I would need it. So I got a kit. Before I could use my new kit, I loaned it, but they're still using it so, they paid for this one because I need all of this to get it done right! LOL The mallet and bar will be my best friends. Talk about pressure and alignment - those are key and these will do the trick. The tapping block with a handle is new. I can see where a handle will come in handy and it will also save my fingers, because I have missed the block a time or two! and the spacers - I didn't have those the first time around, but now I get the expansion and contracting of the new floor. So as soon as the old carpet comes up, the new tools get a workout. This is a great price for all of these pieces and the craftsmanship on the pieces is very good.
