GUCCI: The Making Of Review: Love it! - It's delicious. Especially after you take the cover off of it. It's a beautiful embossed black. Loveeeeeee! Review: Beautiful Book Fit For Gucci Lovers! - I love fashion coffee table books, particularly when they are well-designed with great photography. This book focuses on the Gucci empire right up to 2011 so if you like current Gucci, this book doesn't cover it. However, it's a great chronicle of the business from their products to their advertising campaigns, promotions and their famous clientele. It does get a little TOO deep promoting its creative director from 2005-2014, Frida Giannini BUT not enough to ruin the experience, especially if you like the Gucci of the past anyway. There's a good balance of text and photos that I must mention because I've seen my share of fashion books with too much text and really, what is the point of dropping money on a fashion book with few pictures? I love this book and you fashion fans will enjoy it too!

Get this book!
This book amazing! And so beautiful to display. I purchased it for my brother and I might need to get it myself. It’s enriched with history, even has fabrics they used for monumental products! This is a must.

Gucci The Making Of is a must-have for every fashion lover. Personally I always have been ambivalent about the brand: it seems to move between the poles of Italian vulgarity and true style/beauty. But Gucci is fascinating regardless of aesthetic preferences. The thing I love about this book is that it looks like your average coffee table tome (which it is at one level) but is overflowing with information and essays which place the fashion house in the right context. As a historical overview the book is extremely thorough: everything from business, shops, advertisements, signature symbols and patterns is presented in illustrations and text. I only have three minor points of criticism: I would have liked to see more reproductions of the legendary 1997 Mario Testino campaign. There is a slight overexposure of contemporary celebrities wearing Gucci towards the end of the book. And lastly I find it questionable the way fragrances like the great but discontinued Nobile are written out of history in the perfume chapter.

Stunning book. Extremely large in size, quality binding of the book. Well worth the cost.
