James Napoli uses a dictionary format to explore all the ridiculous, heart-breakingly stupid things that idiots (aka human beings) spend their lives doing. He makes it through the whole alphabet, and one gets the impression that he could do it again, with equal truth and humor, and without repeating himself.Except the X section, which he completely used up with three entries in this book.

It's painfully funny because each time I pick it up, I end up laughing so hard it hurts. I'm a big fan of the author's Official Dictionary of Sarcasm, so I had to get more of his sense of humor. This is even more on point than the sarcasm book and has the added bonus of making me feel even more superior to the idiots of the world. Every page I open to randomly gives me a nice jolt of snarky humor and guaranteed laughs.

Good book, but not as good as the Sarcasm dictionary.

Would have loved to high rate this book because it's top notch in quality, however, the guy who wrote this either hates every day life or thinks he's so above it all only he understands. In the everyday world it's called arrogance, the intended idiocy the title refers to. Maybe my Uncle, the Big Shot, or my other uncle the Aging Academic, would get a huge kick out of this book, it definitely is a niche product. On the other hand, that's exactly why this book was written.

I received this and the Sarcasm book as gifts and ….YES funny! I'm keeping one at the office so I can read (out loud might be best;)) one definition each day to the crew. HA HA can't wait! This might become my sure-fire gift for the year!

This was the catchphrase of Latka Gravas on Taxi. It is one of the the marks of stupid (or arrogant) person to see stupidity all around them and not realize that they, themselves, are part of the mix.I found this cute for a page or two, then put it down because of the chronic negativity. I can get that from the news.

I loved the author's wit and sometimes biting definitions! I also bought this author's "The Official Dictionary of Sarcasm". I have recommended both these books to several of my friends and they are buying them too!
