If you like mythology, action, interesting characters... this is a MUST SEE. Actually, if you like movies, this is a MUST SEE. That's how good it is. I hope they make more movies like this. It is fun to watch and for all ages. It's great for kids but it doesn't feel like a kids only movie, there's definitely things in the movie only adults will appreciate. It's a wonderful film for family occasions, but also a good movie for adults. I forced one of my siblings, who hasn't seen it with the rest of us, to watch it. He kept saying no when I suggested it, judging a book by its cover. So I just told him trust me watch this and he said it's one of the best movies he's ever seen. I don't usually like animated movies but this one is definitely one of the top 5 movies I've ever seen in my life. Review: Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas – The Movie I’ll Never Outgrow - Ah, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas—the animated masterpiece that raised me, entertained me, and, to this day, refuses to let me go. I have rewatched this movie so many times, I’m fairly certain I could quote it in my sleep. And you know what? I REGRET NOTHING. Back in the day, little me was absolutely entranced by the thrilling sea adventures, the banter between Sinbad and Proteus (hello, ultimate bromance), and that unforgettable showdown with Eris, the goddess of chaos—who, let’s be honest, had no right being that charismatic. To this day, I still aspire to have at least 10% of Eris’s sass and dramatic flair. But even now, as a so-called “adult” (pfft), this movie still slaps. The animation? Gorgeous. The action? Still epic. The humor? Still makes me laugh like a kid. And the soundtrack? Chef’s kiss. It’s one of those rare movies that feels just as magical on the 100th rewatch as it did the first time. So, if you haven’t watched Sinbad recently, do yourself a favor—grab some snacks, embrace the nostalgia, and prepare to be amazed all over again. Because some legends never fade, and this one? Pure cinematic gold.

DVD Works, and is in good quality. The movie itself is....eh. Appropriate for children.
In terms of the dvd's functionality, it works well with my relatively older DVD player. I have not tried to play it on newer DVD readers. If you're looking for a playable copy and you live in the US, this is a worthwhile purchase. The cover art is awful and bland. Now to discuss the movie itself: For me, the concept of Sinbad as an adventure individual property is near limitless, and it's a shame there hasn't been a decent comic/novel/movie adaptation (one could argue the Anime titled "One Piece" holds the same spirit as this, but I mean comparing ANY entertainment to Japanese entertainment is like comparing apples to oranges. Japan must be from another planet, I swear). In terms of storytelling, Dreamwork's adaptation is lackluster and safe. The story is typical. The worldbuilding somehow manages to simultaneously appear expansive, yet limited. The characters are all the same basic "Look we're actually good pirates" trope, leaving the overall crew just kinda like props in the background (if you want better cartoon pirates, watch "Treasure Planet."). Sinbad himself is not fully realized, and at times comes off as a Mary Sue (a character without flaws, and is often a representation of what the writer sees as the perfect being...in most story telling this is BAD because it ends up unrelatable and BORING). The only curiosity is Brad Pitt's performance as the voice (not his voice acting...which is horrible). The movie really does a good job playing off of two or more of these characters' interactions. Specifically, Sinbad and Marina (this story's "Strong Independent Female" trope that is so common now, you can practically typecast it). Additionally, Sinbad and Proteus's interactions have the most promise, and an entire second movie exploring these two deeper would have been welcomed. The only other amazing character in this story is Eris, the main antagonist. Michelle Pfeiffer did an incredible job voicing Eris, and although they could have done way more with her dialogue and personality. This movie is worth watching if only for Eris and the interactions of different characters with one another. Which brings us to this movie's ultimate (and only) strength: It's breathtaking animation. Anything that is hand animated here is quite frankly flawless. The movements are smooth, and they are wonderfully expressive. Some of the coloring of the scenes alone is astounding, something Dreamworks back in the day were masters of. For future animators looking to study movement and fluidity, just watch the scenes with Eris as she seems to flow like water from one form to another. If I remember nothing else about this movie, I remember the animation of Eris. Some of the best ever done. With that being said, we now have to talk about the WORST sin this movie conducted: 3D animation. The 3D animation was just starting to be refined during this time, and I imagine the directors/producers spent a fortune on the new software to do it. This meant they were desperate to use the 3D software as much as possible...and in situations where it was unnecessary. The 3D animations of Eris's creatures stands out both in color and movement. It would only be later with "Prince of Egypt" will Dreamworks learn how to properly manage their incorporation of 2D and 3D elements. This movie, in my eyes, was their test dummy...and they broke the darn thing beating it so much. So if I were to give this movie an overall score, I would give it a 6/10. There are a few surprising twists (in terms of the story structure and events), but all the other weak elements just destroys the overall movie. Eris can't carry this movie on its shoulders alone. With all that being said: If you're looking for a safe and fun/distracting movie for your kids to watch, this is one of the better options. This is especially true for a Dreamworks animation (which has a more edgy history of blurring the line between kid and adult entertainment). I would highly suggest this movie for kids. Adults, well they can appreciate the animation, and tolerate the rest.

大変おもしろかったが、内容が生命の泉みたいなところがあった。特に人魚が近寄ってくるシーンなど、パイレーツがマネたのでしょうか?
