A fantastic drill that will give you years of good use. Excellent bang for your buck!
This is a great drill. I've always found Makita to be an excellent brand in power tools. This drill will be supplementing my old cordless Makita drill which is still going strong. The case is a nice addition and everthing fits easily inside the case which is nice. I've noticed with other brands it's a puzzle to get the tool back in the case. The keyless chuck is easy to use and the drill has power to spare. I would recommend this drill to anyone looking for a quality power tool that will last.

Easy to handle
I gave 5 stars for durability even though I just bought it. Thirty years of buying Makita power tools tells me it's durable. I'm still using a 20 year old 14V cordless drill, impact and light set. Yes, I have bought new batteries. The drill fell from second story onto concret about 15 years ago. Killed the battery, sent the guts flying. But the drill's stil running fine. I bought the Dewalt $60 drill with bag at HD. Great value, 8 amp, but as soon as I took it out of the box I felt the weight and imbalance. It felt like a two hand drill. Almost like a ½" drill. I don't need 8 amps. The Makita is noticably lighter. If you find yourself often holding material with one hand and drilling with the other, the Makita makes it easier on you. Less fatiguing. Still plenty of power for hole saws, etc. Con: a little pricey? But if it goes 20 years, is it really?

The Most Reliable Drill You Can Buy **UPDATE MAY 26, 2023**
I bought this model drill many many years ago. I have put it through hell drilling, sanding, screwing screws and lags and bolts, really hard work and it has never let me down. There were times I really needed a 1/2” chuck but I got by. I can’t say enough good things about it. The new one I just bought is still in its plastic case. I know I have it if my old one ever gives up the ghost. **UPDATE** Monday May 22, 2023 my old drill died. The trigger switch shorted and actually went down in sparks and flames. I went online looking for the switch but found it to be obsolete. No one had the switch. All search engine results resulted in 'OUT OF STOCK' or 'OBSOLETE' except an EBay ad was selling it for $50. $50 for a plastic trigger!! Why did EBay have it and all parts stores including Makita did NOT! I'm suspicious, I didn't buy it, I could be wrong but come on, $50? I have my spare and will be shopping for another drill.

a so-so experience
the chuck got stuck and the rubber came off two weeks after warranty expired that is good and well, but the only help contact (a phone number) is a joke, never answers and doesn't even take messages otherwise, it's a good light weight drill and would recommend it; I fixed by replacing with a decent chuck from another manufacturer and it is working well

2 faulty drills in a row
Purchased July 2022. 1st time I hit trigger, sparks and smoke come out of motor. Sent back to Amazon, another new drill was sent right away. It was rarely used until this week. This was 4th time I have used it. No variable speed on trigger. Either very slow, or very fast. Motor case gets so hot after using more than a minute, you cant hokd it. Motor smells hot also. Called Makita warranty. All I got was address of where I could send it for repair, and repeated claimes thst warranty only good for 1 yr. Very dissatisfied with company. Was told by a general contractor in our area, Makita was best thing going. I hope the new circular saw I purchsed at same tim last better than drill. Purchase Dewalt next time.

Made in America in Buford Georgia
I love makita products. I search all drills to find a made in America drill. Was pleasantly surprised when I found this makita made about 20 miles from my house. Payed a little more but the last makita electric screwdriver I bought was 1992 . It still works great
