Modern Poker Theory: Building an unbeatable strategy based on GTO principles

All the math you will need in poker. Very involved. There is a lot of invaluable info in the book. Any new poker player needs to read this book. It takes a bit but when it clicks you will be glad you got this book. Step up your poker game.

To start off this is the most helpful poker book I have read so far! Thank you to Michael Acevedo and Jonathan Little from Pokercoaching.com for writing this master piece! I am a amateur poker player still studying and learning the game and this book has moved my game to the next level! It answered so many questions that I had that were not answered in other tournament poker books I've read so far. It lays out so many scenarios and offers what the best play to do in certain spots and a great reasoning behind the theory. I never bluffed very much before I read this book, I was afraid to because I didn't know when to do it properly. And I also didn't understand when I should C-Bet and what sizes are best to use on certain flops from in position and out of position. No I bluff quite a bit more and rarely get called because I'm pick the right spots to do it in based on reading my opponents range and board composition. I'm cashing so much more in tournaments now and when I don't cash I usually am still in the top 25% of players close to the money. I'm not a math expert either and I still got a huge amount of valuable information from this book so don't be intimidate by the comments saying its very complex math and hard to understand. They do have very complex calculus equations that are over my head but I still got more value from this book then any other I've read. If you have not read it and your serious about improving your skills in poker this is a must read!

The book is a bit dense on the math, and assumes calculations that are near impossible to be done at the table and requires lots of previous knowledge to even start reading. It is very helpful for mid-advanced poker players who want to improve their game.

One of the best books ever written on the topic of No Limit Holdem from a GTO perspective.

I agree with most reviewers that this book is a step ahead of all of the other No Limit Holdem books out there. And like many readers, I agree that it will require several readings to be able to get everything out of this book. My complaint is that careful reading points out many places where the book is sloppy in it's construction. As discussion gets to play on the flop and turn, Acevedo presents diagrams showing strategies for types of boards. Usually with raise/call/fold ratios for each of ten holdings. In about 80% of these diagrams, only five of the strategies are labeled. So, once you take a close look, the diagram doesn't support you. There are a couple of errors in equations, and his effort to describe odds and percentages is a real hash. Most people coming at this book will probably already understand that stuff and just gloss over his muddied explanation. The real gold in this book is the GTO theory and it is generally done well. (Why I'm keeping my 5-star rating). There is still room for more books on this topic. There are times where Acevedo seems to distance himself from some of the strategies ("the solver likes to do ..."). The next iteration of a book like this will help the reader understand why the solver made some of its choices. Finally, this book isn't for the casual player. It's a book for the kind of player that spends time away from the table studying the game and reflecting on their own play.

Great book very knowledgeable for advanced players

A lot of reviews for this book say it's too complicated and difficult to understand. My guess is that these are novice poker players who don't have a good understanding of the game's fundamentals, or they didn't take the time to really digest the content of this book. It is not a book you will be able to finish quickly while still picking up all the information, and it is not a book for beginners. The author does an excellent job of explaining relatively complex ideas. I recommend this book to anyone who either has experience with the mathematics of poker, or who is willing to put in the time to learn it. 5 stars out of 5

Good theory, but the book is so complex that there are lots of errors that even the editor couldn't/didn't catch. Definitely not a book for laymen or people uncomfortable with complicated math.

現代ポーカー最高の理論書ということですが、同時に、ポーカーを題材にした「ゲーム理論」最高の入門書の一つでもあると思います。前提知識は数学は高校文系数学程度（もっと言えばほぼほぼ四則計算、あとは確率の初歩と若干の初等関数の概念が分かっていればお釣りが来ます）、ポーカーはポーカー教室(ポーカー侍)のホールデムの章程度の知識と若干のゲーム経験があれば、英語も平易かつクリアでポーカーの基礎から順を追ってロジックを組み立てていますので、推薦図書としては概ね上級者向けとされていますが、ぶっちゃけ初心者向けから順に読んでいくとえらい遠回りな気もしますので、早い段階で、前提に問題のない(そして座学に削ぐ時間が限られている)オトナはこの本から入る(基本書にする)のも十分にアリかと思います。完璧な本など存在しないという前提で言うなら、個人的には一番シックリ来るポーカー本でした。
