Hydrapak Expedition - Collapsible BPA & PVC Free Water Storage Bag (8L/270oz) - Chasm Black

I'll admit, I haven't used it out in the 'wild' yet...but initial unboxing and inspection says it's a sweet item! The HydraPak material feels substantial and has a nice matte feel and sporty look, but collapses down to a compact size and is lightweight. It holds a good amount of water and after having it filled to the brim and laying on its side all day, hasn't let a drop escape! The spigot system is very easy to use and adds versatility for dispensing. I haven't tested the true holding power of the carrying handle or lashing straps yet. It seems very well made and I've seen pictures of it hanging from them, but it's full weight is just over 17# and that makes me a little nervous. The ONLY con I can speak of is it doesn't live up to it's claim of free standing - not when completely full anyway. But it does when it's about 3/4 full so that's close enough for me! If you're looking for a durable, versatile water-holding-vessel that tucks out of the way when not in use - you won't be disappointed! Buy it!

Update October 24, 2023 I’ve been using this for all of my camping events and it’s my favorite. Doesn’t leak and I love the spigot. Very versatile and price is great. Original Review This is a great hydration pack to take camping. It’s 8 liters and it’s not too heavy. I have 3 other 10 liter bags from a different manufacturer. But this 8 liter bag is much more manageable. There is a clip-on spigot which is VERY handy indeed. And the lid does not leak! The spigot flow is not fast but very nice for camping needs! There is no taste in the water from the bag. You can hang it on paracord between trees to make it even more functional. Highly manageable and highly recommended.

I keep this container filled in my back seat area while heading around the Arizona desert and extended trips to locations where water is a possible question. Very durable and easy to dispense water from. Love this water container!

This thing stinks, I mean it really smells. Makes the water smell. There is almost nothing you can do about it. Except. Piping the water through an inline charcoal filter, I use the sawyer. it makes the water completely odor free. Seeing as how you gotta use the spigot anyway, it's really no hardship to have a charcoal filer semi permanently installed in the water flow. Other than the odor issue. This thing is just fantastic. Packs small, weighs almost nothing empty. The mechanism for the hose attachment is really nice and seems durable. Considering the capacity and the size when empty and the seemingly heavy duty construction and versatility it's great, Ideally, one would use this for a "grey" water tank with an inline water filter and charcoal filter into a "clean" water receptacle. Then all the concerns about odor are negated.

I used this to store water for use when we were cleaning up the campsite. Its made of extremely durable material and worked really well lugging 8L back and forth from the spigot to the campsite. The only issue is the flow rate is pretty slow if you don't hang it. To be expected and it wasn't a huge deal. Looking forward to the next time I get to use it.

I needed a large water storage container that would fit easily in my kayak and be easy to access and use while paddling. The Hydrapak Expedition 8-liter bag was perfect. I paddle and camp in Florida where we have raccoons and black bears that go after fresh water, which means you have to keep your water in your tent. I have a small tent, and didn't want to take up precious space storing my water. I figured that the shape and size would be perfect to use as a pillow and it was delightful—way better than an inflatable pillow. Kind of like a water bed, but for your head. Because it's black it warms the water inside it if is if exposed to the sun. That's perfect for washing up in the evening. Alternatively, I wrap it in an insulated reflective bag if I want it to stay cooler. It seems to be very well made and well thought out.

3 stars because it does hold water. Unfortunately, it is a bit tricky to dispense the water in a controlled manner because the bag is rather floppy, as you might expect a bag to be. But placing the spout in the center of the top, as opposed to the one edge or another, means it is difficult to control the flow of water when pouring, especially when the bag is fully full. More concerning, the bag imparts a plastic or vinyl taste to the water. If the taste of vinyl swimming pool water is a fond nostalgic memory, this may be the water bag for you!

This is the second one I’ve owned and it’s definitely worth the money. I had the first one for about 10 years and it still works fine but the strap finally broke so I bought another one.

Dommage, ça aurait été une excellente solution, sauf que : 1) l'eau a un goût horrible après plusieurs lavages ; 2) après la quatrième utilisation, le bouchon a commencé à fuir ; 3) le robinet est de mauvaise qualité, tout en plastique, et s'est cassé après quelques jours d'utilisation. j'ai été très déçu. Quel gaspillage d'argent !

Ich suchte etwas stabiles für den Expeditionsbereich. Nach langer Suche fand ich diesen Behälter. Er ist sehr gut in der Handhabung und richtig stabil. Nach der Leerung kann er zusammengerollt werden.Auch die Aufhängungsmöglichkeiten überzeugen. Klare Empfehlung .
