NOT JUST FOR DRYING HAIR WORKS GREAT FOR DEEP CONDTIONING
I use mine for weekly deep conditioning treatments I have had mine for years, and recently noticed the bonnet had a tear in it I didn't save my box so I didn't have the model number and I certainly didn't remember if the bonnet came off to even replace it. I didn't want to throw the whole thing away if the bonnet was easily replaceable So I searched the reviews and questions on Amazon, to see if people have replaced their bonnet, and where to get them. Not seeing anyone posting in reviews or questions, that replace theres or where to get one, I ordered a whole new dryer THE BONNET IS REPLACEABLE and all it took was a call to Conair If you tear your bonnet like I did after many years of use, nothing lasts forever, call Conair @ 1-800-326-6247 (The cost a whole $4.77) After I received this new hair dryer really hating the idea of throwing out the perfectly good dryer, and seeing that inside the box, the bonnet was packaged separately proving it can be taken off, I realized what would it hurt to call them. I will be receiving my new bonnet in 7-10 days,,, and rather than returning this dryer, I am keeping this dryer I just ordered for my friend... Save your hair and your money from all the processing and do the deep condtioning with this safe, relaxing in your favorite chair in your own home, and if your bonnet tears YOU CAN REPLACE IT If you have thrown out your box like I did here is al you need to know: The model number is SB1XR 1-800-326-6247 Located: Conair Corporation East Windsor, NJ 08520 I use mine for weekly deep conditioning treatments, and this is how it works: You MUST have a LOW profile shower cap with a SATIN LINING ( I have a lot of hair, and once you put all the conditioner on it I can fit my hair very easily into a low profile cap) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES EVER PUT ANY METAL CLIPS ON YOUR HAIR DURING THIS TREATMENT If your shower cap is not low profile the air WILL not circulate around the head the way that it should If your shower cap does not have a satin lining it defeats the purpose of protecting your hair from burning and drying out the conditioner Tighten up the string to fit your head Put a towel around your neck Make sure the hose is placed at the back of your head for even heat distribution (because the hose gets hot to, the towel keeps it up off your neck and if any condtioner drips out it does so on the towel not down your neck How to keep the bonnet from slipping over your face, Place the edge of the bonnet just above your shower cap, (just above your hairline in the front) that you have under the bonnet, if it is still falling, you need to pull the adjustment string tighter then just sit back and relax Always remember, as with any heated conditioning, ALWAYS let your HAIR AIR COOL off completely before rinsing off conditioner

Great products. Recomend.
Takes a beating. I have left it on nearly all night, and also knocked it down from the table. Takes a licking and keeps ticking. I use it over my face and ears. I know that is backwards, but it shuts out the world and brings me comfort so I can get to sleep. Also works well for facial aches from allergies, colds, and just a very cold face.

Quality
Compact, Lightweight, Does the job, Great heat levels, I like it. Drawbacks: The hose easily detaches from cap while drying with little body movements and the cap can be made Of higher quality material.

Do not purchase, a waste of money!
This is a horrible disappointment. The hose is about one foot long so that you need to be on top of the unit to have it reach your head. Once you get past the cheap construction and the difficulty of getting the hose on the cap you realize that the size of the bonnet is designed for a doll, or perhaps your cat. I have a small head and getting a set of medium rollers into it is a losing proposition. I am looking for a reliable and alternate way to style my hair after breast cancer left me with a weak arm. This is not it! Cheap, cheap and ineffective. I will need to try another brand that actually works and will dry my style. What is not to understand about creating such a simple product? Convenience and reliability with each use first and foremost and why not go out on a limb and make it easy to use and somewhat portable with a shoulder strap or sling to make reading or writing possible while seated? Do not purchase if you plan on being satisfied customer. or maybe dry your delicates in it.

Works but a very poor design
I bought this because I was hoping to save myself some time and energy drying my hair. I started washing my hair at night to save me some hassle in the morning and I wanted to be able to sit and watch television or go online while my hair was drying. I remembered using a tabletop dryer when I was young because there was no such thing as a blow dryer! LOL. This product works quite well, and I was surprised that my hair had quite a bit of volume, which I really like for my wavy thick hair. I also have fine hair so it's difficult to style. My problem is mainly with the tank, I guess what you would call it? The two times I opened the storage compartment, I had to get a knife out of my kitchen to release the little door because the notch where you put your finger to open it is very small and not smooth. Plus it locks very tightly and my fingers aren't strong enough to open it. Also, the compartment is too small and I really struggled to put the cord and the tubing back into the compartment. I finally gave up because it was so late at night. After setting it up, putting the Bonnet on and trying to get everything put back together, I could have had my hair dried with a regular blow dryer and already been to bed. My last comment is, that I guess the tubing needs to go up the back of your head and I had it on the side because that's where the tank was sitting and the air was not flowing all the way around my head. If I use it again I would put it around the back but that would definitely make it more difficult to use it anywhere that I would sit. I agree with other people saying that the tubing is too short. It probably should be twice as long. I do appreciate the long power cord, however. I have not decded but I'm about 90% sure I will return it and try one that connects to my personal blow dryer. All in all, if you are not looking for something as a timesaver, I think you will like this bonnet dryer. But, if you don't like the hassle of opening and closing the compartment and getting the Bonnet on correctly, you may not appreciate this as well as some people do.

great hair dryer
I love hooded hair dryers. Unfortunately they are getting harder and harder to find. I have used this type for years for other reasons then drying hair. The hood is really good for putting over your face to help cure a sinus or migraine headache. It is quite soothing. It is also good for turning on cool and enclosing your entire head in it to drown out a snoring husband. So what if the noise keeps him awake? Turn about is fair play and his noise machine has kept you awake! If you get cramps in your feet placing your feet inside of a nice puffy warm Hood also helps. It is also good as a bed warmer as long as a canine or other type companion is not available to provide that service. I bought two hairdryers this one and the one under a Laila Ali's name. they were similar in most instances in shape and size but also quite different. the Laila Ali hair dryer is vented from the side. this one is vented from an end. The Laila Ali hair dryer has a hose that you pull out of a hole and when finished you can force it right back in and fasten it in place. This one has a an opening on one end that you pull the hose out of and everything is stuffed right back into that same opening. This hair dryer is truer to its temperature settings then the Laila Ali hair dryer which tends to run hot except on cool setting. this also has a four foot hose on it possibly for where the Laila Ali hair dryer hose is not as long maybe three feet. This hair dryer is a bit more noisy than Laila Ali's but is truer to the temps. Laila Alis smells more like vinyl which i kind of prefer because it is more like a new car smell. This one smells more plastic which is not a bad thing either. Both performed very well. One problem I've had with others I've ordered over the last 5 years has been that these would overheat and turn themselves off, which is not a good trait for a hair dryer. It would occur within 30 minutes to an hour and might take 15 to 30 minutes to come back on. Frustrating. Good thing i wasn't using it to dry my hair. i turned both of these machines on and ran them for more than three hours each and they kept running. I think you could heat a room with them.

Great for curly hair plopping
I bought this to do curly girl hair plopping while drying. I love that the cord was long enough to reach my bed area and that the dryer actually worked and actually just what I was looking for. Its super retro looking and I love that!

POOR HOSE & CASE DESIGN
I have had this dryer for a year. The only reason I have not replaced it is because I do not need to use it that often so I tolerate its design failures. PROS: Decent price; The dryer is lightweight and portable which is why most of us purchase soft bonnet dryers in the first place; the dryer come with a vent brush attachment; the dryer has four heat settings (HIGH/MED/LOW/COOL) that live up to their labels; the accordion hose has a "drawstring" feature that keeps the shortened length in place but easily loosens to extend for drying. CONS: The hose is internal to the casing with no "cut-out" for the case to close while in use (my previous dryers had hoses that were pulled out of a dedicated slot and a separate compartment housed the power cord and bonnet with a cut-out in the compartment door for the power to fit through w/ the door closed); the "locking" mechanism for the hose to attach to the bonnet is TERRIBLE and constantly slips off. You pretty much have to remain very still or hold the hose in place or it will detach from the bonnet. This is so frustrating and I have a short pixie cut that does not require much drying time. If your hair is long and you have curlers on, the repeated detachment of the hose may drive you nuts. I would not buy this again and should have returned it when I had the chance.
