S'well Sports Cap, Fits 9oz and 17oz Original Bottle, 18/8 Stainless Steel Cap, BPA Free

Lots of previous reviews say this lid leaks. It does NOT leak if closed properly. The lid needs to be tilted ALL THE WAY to the back to drink out of it well. It needs to be tilted the opposite way ALL THE WAY to the front to be closed properly. If the tab is horizontal & even and you can see a sliver of blue it is not closed properly and it will leak. It has to be tilted. Please see the attached pictures. I ordered a 3rd party silicone strap for a carry handle since S'well is out of stock. It's easy to carry since it's flexible & no noise like from other carabiner handles I looked at. Thick, sturdy & inexpensive. I was hesitant to purchase this lid because of the reviews where people state it leaks. I'd like to clarify a few things because I don't like it when items get a bad review due to user error. There are two cap sizes, one for the 9 & 17 oz bottle and one for the 25 oz bottle. Order the correct size. This is not marketed towards the Swell Sip bottles shaped like a triangle and I have not tried it on any of them. You can open the top of the cap by pushing down with your finger however; in order to get it to seal properly when you close it, you must push the flip cap down so that NO blue is showing - zero blue gasket showing. Otherwise, it will leak. This fits both my 9 and 17oz Swell bottles perfectly. It does take a bit to get used to drinking out of it as sometimes your nose can hit the opposite end of the lid. I definitely recommend.

We’ve been using other bottles instead of our Swell bottles when traveling because it’s inconvenient to unscrew a top when driving and other activities. There aren’t acceptable straw top options for these bottles. (Maybe 1 on amazon that doesn’t work well at all). The sports cap solves the problem. We have 2 of them now and although we haven’t had them for too long, there are no leaks at all so far. You have to be sure to close properly. The open position is a push down toward the low (back) end of the cap and it shows a blue stripe that indicates it’s open. The closed position is not flat which is what you’ll tend to do but more of a push down at the high (front) end of the cap. See pics and video. 2 limitations of the cap so far. I rec’d an answer for directly from Swell— is that you cannot use the cap with hot drinks. Also I don’t think the cap is insulated as we have found that the *drinks do not stay cold for long with the sports cap*. You trade the convenience of the cap for the temp of the beverage. The original screw cap keeps the drinks cold and the sports cap does not. The sports cap right now is only available for the 17 oz and 9 oz. It doesn’t fit any of the S’ip 15 oz bottles. Also no one makes a silicone boot small enough to fit the 17 oz bottle (only sleeves available). The Swell bottles are high quality bottles that keep drinks hot and cold for long periods but options for tops and protective silicone boots are limited.

I like the “coke bottle” shaped water bottles, but I hated the screw on tops because every time you wanted to take a sip you had to remove the top completely. It was frustrating how many times I dropped the top on the ground and had to find a place to rinse it off. I was surprised when I found this sipping top that DOES NOT HAVE TO BE REMOVED in order to take a sip AND does not leak. I did not have the same brand water bottle as this top, so I hesitated to buy it because the description didn’t make it really clear except to say it would fit MOST 17 ounce water bottle. I have one 17 ounce bottle from Iconiq and another made by Sunwill. I decided to take the plunge and ordered it hoping that it would fit at least one of the two bottles I own. I received the top today and was very happy to see that it fit both of my water bottles and it works just as stated. As long as the blue part is not visible, it does not leak. You might have to put the sip part so the blue section is not visible. I believe that the top has 3 positions so you just have to find the position that is leak proof. It comes in a small box just a little bigger than the top and it was mailed in a bubble envelope, which made the box squished a little, BUT the top does not appear to be damaged. I will check it out tomorrow! On the box in very teenytinny letters DO NOT USE WITH HOT LIQUIDS! I never would have seen it under normal circumstances but I was looking to see where it was made and saw the line and put on my glasses to read it. I am very pleased that it DID fit both my bottles and I can use the bottles with a good top that does not have to be unscrewed every time I want to take a sip! Would recommend this top. So take a chance that as long as you have a 17 ounce “coke bottle” style water bottle this top should fit!

I love my Swell Water Bottle but the lid is designed to be removed every time you want a drink. This top turns the bottle into a flip top for quick use. I love the convenience and the top fits perfectly. There's no leakage! Five Stars!

I got a swell-shaped bottle from work and loved it, except I physically cannot bring myself to drinking out of screw-cap bottles. I was hesitant to get this cap initially because of the price and because I am typically a straw-drinker, but I got it to test and I’m never going back. Well – that’s a lie... I still love the ease of a straw, but this makes my water bottle the most appealing drink I’ve ever tasted somehow. I find myself filling up my bottle so many times in a day at work now. The only slight downside is that it leaks sometimes. This is because I’m lazy and don’t always push the cap all the way down. But, if you did, it would be completely leak-proof! All in all, this is a great cap! All of my coworkers happen to have the same bottle as me, but this makes it super easy to differentiate which is mine. I also now spend a lot of time running to the refill stations because the cap makes it easy to drink a tonnnn of water!
