After receiving it, I was excited to start using my Lavatools thermometer only to find it was defective. It had some functionality but the most important feature of reading and displaying an accurate temperature on the screen was not working. I followed the instructions listed in the troubleshooting guide but was unsuccessful. So I reached out to Lavatools and they responded immediately offering to send a brand new replacement which arrived very shortly thereafter. I am happy to report this thermometer works beautifully! It’s super easy to use, accurate, and lightning fast with the results displayed on a large screen. I also like the magnetic feature that allows me to stick it onto my refrigerator or the side of my microwave keeping it at the ready and preventing it from getting lost in the clutter of one of my drawers. Lavatools is on another level in customer service. I’m so thankful I did not have to call and wait on hold listening to a recording of how my call is important to them over and over while waiting to speak to a real person. Instead of telling me that, they demonstrated it in the way they responded and resolved my issue. I would happily recommend their products to family and friends.

As a late 20-something on a tight budget, I’ve tried a bunch of less expensive thermometers over the years & at various relatives homes, but finally got frustrated with their shakey accuracy and/or how quickly they break. After this one, I’ll never look back! This is 100% worth the price point. And it rivals the instant thermometers I used in professional sensory testing kitchens in college. Mine has been working perfectly for almost a year now, and it’s become my go-to housewarming gift for all my friends. I was a little worried that it was only described as “water-resistant,” since I’m definitely not the neatest cook. But I’ve rinsed the full base of mine under running water at least a few times now (only times it was really sticky!), and can confirm the display didn’t get all water-logged or foggy like i was worried about! Normally, i do just wipe down the probe portion with soapy water. The only criticism I have is that the magnet isn’t super strong, so it doesn’t stick to my fridge without sliding down when the door is opened. (It would probably stick to a metal grill though). I didn’t take off any starts because I don’t really care about to the magnet, (it was easily fixed by hanging it on a Command hook instead), but just a heads up for those who are really interested in that feature. Seriously though, if your hesitating between this and a cheaper model, just get this one. You won’t be disappointed and it will last much longer!

This thermometer is spot-on!! I tested it in an ice bath as instructed, and was delighted to see it register 32°F. I actually bought it as an instant-read aquarium thermometer to ensure my Inkbird controllers are keeping the water at the desired temperature. All my aquarium thermometers are off by two or three degrees, and that can endanger fishes' health. It is super-easy to use and read, is magnetic so it stores on the side of my fridge, and I loved the selection of colors. The fish aren't frightened at all by wasabi green!😊

Awesome thermometer. Love that it can be read at any angle. It seems to be very durable. The numbers are easy to read and it is very accurate.

Very fast and looks to be accurate. This replaced a smaller one I had (and loved) that broke. It is considerably bigger but works well. It is apparently designed to magnetically adhere to the stove because it has a magnetized portion. I don't want it sitting around getting greasy when it is not being used and the magnet makes it a bit of a pain to keep in a drawer if there are other metal things in the drawer. My thermometer is always stuck to something. However, as far as its intended use it works quite well

For many years we've used a certain type of OXO digital thermometer that we liked, but it seemed to need regular replacing (got a little wet, just randomly died, button stopped working, etc). We decided we needed something a bit higher quality, and my wife ordered this one. Not thinking anything of it one day when I needed the thermometer, I opened the drawer to find this one. I was instantly impressed. The build quality is clearly superior, immediately feeling substantial and well built. It's easy to use, just open it up like a folding knife and it comes on. You immediately know it's accurate because it matches what I know to be the air temp in the house when opened. It changes instantly when placed in the food to be tested. I used it over the weekend to verify the existing temperature probe we have for meat in our smoker, and it was within 2 degrees of the probe temp every time I checked. I didn't even realize it's magnetic until it stuck to the side of our stove one day, which is another cool feature. The ability to fold the probe away is also nice to help prevent accidentally poking yourself or things in the drawer. I'm sure it also protects the probe long-term. We've only had it for a short time so I can't comment on long-term reliability, but so far I'm not concerned that it will last much longer than our OXO did. Seems very well built and accurate. Highly recommend!

I’ve had the thermapen and oxo pen thermometers before this one. I liked both of them but I won’t buy them again because this one is just as good for less than half the price

We upgraded to this probe from a simple $10 one. This is more accurate and consistent. Turns on/off easily and more predictably. And the obvious... its fast. Is it the fastest? No, but that's okay. Works for our home use case. We've use this to temp meats and breads that we cook at home and couldn't be happier. It's got magnets, so it easily attaches to our fridge. The display is simple and easy to read.
