So I have molding the runs wider (deeper) than the risers that come with the unit. So I used a scrap 2x4 cut it down, drilled recessed holes, then used wall anchors to secure. I needed to do this x2 as the riser on top need to be same width (depth). In reality I could have probably built the whole thing from scratch, but I do like the smooth finish, and having the parts, physically, allowed me to better visualize what needed to be built. I did sand and paint the DIY risers with a glossy white spray paint that matches pretty well. I would recommend you measure the depth (width) of the molding you’re installing this over. I’d also recommend to consider if you have a chair rail (I do and this wasn’t a problem for me). This is definitely something you’ll want to consider if you’re installing at foot of stairs where you are open on one side. Also keep in mind a banister (railing) take note of that measurement (again not a problem for me). Other than that high quality low price…

This works perfectly for our gate. One side is a banister and the other a wall so this was attached to the wall side. Directions were easy to follow.

Calling this a “kit” is pretty misleading. A “kit” implies that it will include everything you need to mount the baby gate. But really, this kit only comes with the materials to mount one side of a baby gate. If you want to fully install a baby gate, you have to buy 2 kits, which at $30 each would cost almost as much as the baby gate itself (or more than many other baby gates). I had to scroll all the way to the bottom of the product listing to find where they wrote it only comes with 1 side. This information should be clearly and prominently written in the product name and description. We are sending the one we bought back and will figure out another solution to mount our baby gate.

It was easy to install and did exactly what it claimed to do. 5 stars.

Works as advertised. Happened to be the same color as our baseboards so that was a super happy coincidence.
