PADS THAT CAN BE CUSTOMIZED? I LOVE THEM!
I weigh 120, 5'3" female. Bought adult small. PERFECT!. I inline skate. I am too old and wise to think I will never fall. I have padded basketball shorts that saved me twice last year during the re-learning curve time, so I know better than to tempt fate. Treated myself to these Tortoise Pad shorts just because I was getting a little tired of the other ones I own being so bulky and hot. So glad I did. I had no idea what I was missing. The pluses on these tortoise pad shorts are easy to describe. 1.) You can remove some of the padding if you like. AND I DID. The pads are layered so you can take out a few layers or if you want even more out take out the last couple of layers and carefully split them where a small amount of adhesive has been carefully placed. This is really easy to do and they are totally smooth and wonderful after doing this. There are a couple different thicknesses and density s so you can figure out just what you want. Very Clever. You could start with lots of padding if you are learning a sport and then slim down as you get better. 2.) These ARE your underwear so you just put them on and then pull on a pair of shorts. It ends up looking pretty normal. Non fitted athletic shorts pull right on over these. Most padded shorts are to be worn over underwear. So you end up with 3 layers- underwear, padded shorts and then regular shorts to cover up the ugly. Makes it very hot in the summer. 3.) Comfort. They are cool and the waist band is wonderful. Not so loose they fall down but not so tight that you can't wait to get them off. Tight waist bands make for sore sacroiliacs on me so very much appreciated. The length is nice and shorter than most padded shorts so not a lot of extra hanging past your regular shorts. 4.) Simple clever design. There are pockets that the padding slide in with a flap to lock them in place. Easy to take extra padding out. I have to take a few pads all the way out to reduce the thickness and I had no trouble putting back the less bulky version. I advise you just do one pad at a time so you know which shape goes where. I even plan to use a couple of the removed layers across my front hip bones just in case I manage a fall like that. I slipped an extra pad across that bone and the shorts held it in place without any shifting. If I somehow lost these tomorrow I would immediately replace them. I really can't find anything wrong with them. The price? After you go through three or four cheep pairs looking for comfort and ease of use it is easy to see why these are the price they are. With all the time I have spend trying to make other padded shorts work, I really appreciate the fact that these are just a few pads pulled out away from perfect for me. I think the price if worth it. And I am pretty cheep. Thank you Tortoise Pads for doing all the work for me. I will gladly pay you for that.

Mechanic extreme !
So I injured my tail bone pretty bad. I like to work on cars so I'm always sitting on concrete. I'm a as the doc say a pretty bony guy. And when I was healthy my rear hips would always be quite sore and my tail bone. Then I had this dumb idea pading on the floor. Then I said I wonder if they make like padded shorts.... Well yep these. Omg my kid said you look like a nija turtle with these on. But let me tell you I can sit roll lay on my side and wrench. I get done and for once in 20 years I'm not sore in these areas There a bit bulky and I have to wear my overalls but man what a game changer for the backyard mechanic !!! And they work well with my creeper when laying on it. I'm quite sure if I used the. For what they are advertising I have no doubt these you protect you. So anytime I know I'm gonna be on my bum and concrete for extended periods I use these . Fit wise there great you feel like you have armor on but these move well and thus far I've not experienced the pads going or pinching pushing .

These are EVERYTHING you need!
This was my third time trying a pair of crash shorts and I'm here to say look no further, these are the ones. The padding level is far superior, adjustable thicknes, and removable for washing. You don't get that anywhere else. Tailbone coverage is superior to to other brands, and space between pads is very minimal. Depsite the thicker padding, these are infinitely more comfortable and stay put. You end up forgetting they are on. And on top of all that, they WORK. I had already injured my tailbone quad skating while wearing inferior pants. I took a spill while healing in these bad boys, and came out okay! No reinjury. Worth every penny!

I TRUST THESE WITH MY ALL, WELL, MY HIPS, BUTT, THIGHS, WHICH IS...ALL
These Tortoise Pads are EVERYTHING! They say the bigger you get, the harder you fall. In my case, as soon as I put on the roller skates...the taller you get, the harder and faster you fall. One moment you're skating and in a split second you're on the ground...OUCHIE! I haven't skated for years and I'm talking over 18 and my kids recently picked up the hobby and love for skating so what does a Daddy do? He buys his own pair, puts them on and skates with the kids because it means the world to them. I'm just not as physically adapt to falling as I used to be LOL. So what else does Daddy do? Search for butt pads! I've done it all. I've gone to Dick's sporting goods, SportsMart, Sports Challet and Big 5 of course you'd find all kinds of pads right? Right, but they were generally meant for specific sports (football, baseball, hockey, etc...). Each had their own level of protection catered to the types of impacts received. Hockey (street or ice) was the best out of all them of course but the problem I had was that they were pretty much the Hockey "pants" and made me look like a clown in a barrel. Not knocking the sport btw. Huge fan here. GO KNIGHTS! So then I've searched and searched everywhere and found these on Amazon and the description caught my eye. The level of protection and what became equally important to me, the areas of protection in the description did it for me. There was just one thing else to do...take a leap of faith and order these. I don't go by reviews and when people say, "wow, this one fits me perfectly" and, "these are amazing, the fit is perfect for my size," etc... If you're like me, you'd know that everyone can be 5'11", 4'5". 5'9" and so on but you either have a butt or a big butt and it could be flat, round, thick and whatever. You could also be size 29", 36", 27" in waist but do you wear your pants, undies, shorts over your belly or under? Anyway, I'm getting a little too philosophical here but what I'm just saying is that everyone's bodies are different and ordering online can be a challenge because you're not able to physically try the fit. I ordered these according to my size and they've been true to my size so how about this, rather than basing the size on your waist by the number of inches, based it on the size of what you normally get your underwear's in. The size chart is good enough. Don't base your decision on the comments. As for comfort, all I can say is...YASSSSS! Protection, all I can say is...YASSSSS! I've fallen at least a dozen times and WITHOUT fear of falling from the extra 3 inches above sea level (LOL). I'm 5'11" so add 3 inches to that, on top of being 227lbs (at the time of purchase, I'm 192 now), and I now skate with confidence and I once again know how to skate, LOL. I'll be ordering a smaller size soon cause why stop there? Just because I've gained muscle memory again doesn't mean I have to stop being safe right? OH, and speaking of size, these were perfectly hidden under my cargo shorts. They simply fitted nicely over my underwear and felt like a second layer of skin. I know that I said that I don't trust comments and reviews but at least trust my "journal" that I had just typed out and get them!

Fit Like a Glove
I was a little worried about sizing because I have a 30" waist and 40" hips, but I went with the small anyway, and I'm glad I did. I have to do a little wiggle to get it over my hips and took out 2 out of 3 of the thigh pads for comfort. But now I feel like they're tailored to my body! I think if I had chosen a medium, they would have shifted around too much and compromised the protection. I can rollerblade with my tortoise pads under a skirt, shorts, or baggy pants and forget they're there until I'm ready to take them off. I wish I could say the same for my annoying knee pads. I'm still looking for a more comfortable replacement for those. Could you imagine leg sleeves like Tortoise Pads? I wish they existed! The turtle team needs to get to work expanding their protective gear selection! But I digress. These shorts do cause a little more sweating, but that's every protective pad in existence. I hang it up afterwards and let them dry out in between wearing and there is no smell, yay! I've yet to fall in them, but honestly, I'm not planning to fall; this is just prevention. After breaking my tailbone twice in my life (unrelated to rollerblading), I don't want to do it again. I'm 39 and want to roll into my old age in one piece. I take protective gear very seriously because I want to live life to the fullest well into my old age. Yes, I will be that old lady on the zipline! But this old lady will be wearing Tortoise Pads ;p After immense research, I chose these to protect my bum. The Reddit stories and vlog reviews were just too convincing. I feel confident that IF I fall, these Tortoise Pads will help me to get back up and keep going.

Saved my buns from certain ruination
At 34 years old I thought it'd be a bright idea to pick up roller skating, something that I was never able to do even as a child because I was born an uncoordinated buffoon. Unfortunately for me, my husband(a man with actual balance skills unlike myself) picked up skating, and he wanted some company with his new hobby. Well, love makes you stupid, so I strapped my 250 pound self into a pair of skates and prayed for beginners luck. As my husband is well aware of my complete and utter lack of grace, he suggested I wear the tortoise pads. While they do give you a somewhat "diaper booty"-esque appearance, it's nothing a long shirt can't cover. Or you can wear your new questionably shaped dump truck with pride, you do you boo. The sizing was spot on too. Beginner's luck saved me the first few times and while I stumbled scooted around the house like a newborn giraffe, I didn't fall. But then I made the near fatal mistake of getting distracted while going over the living room threshold, and I went flying butt first toward the floor with the force of 1000 angry rhinos. I am NOT a tiny woman. When I fall, I fall hard. I hit my tailbone so hard I swear my soul went flying straight up out of my throat with the force of it. All I could manage was a very ladylike squawk of indignant surprise. I can tell you with certainty that if I hadn't been wearing the tortoise pads when I fell, I would've been waving goodbye to the pixie dust particles that were left of my tailbone on the way to the ER Instead I'm writing this with all the dignity I can muster while sitting on an ice pack the size of my head. The pads aren't magic, I'm definitely sore, but 1000x less sore than I would've been without them, and nothing other than my pride was fractured(I think). Highly recommend these if you are new to skating, heavier, older, or if you have a tendency to become one with the floor a little too often. Ps- the brand website sells additional padding on their website if you need a little extra protection.

Not bad at all.
I'm learning how to skate at 40y.o, the last i wanted was to break my coccyx, I spent weeks researching padded shorts and finally puller the trigger on these tortoise pants. You can remove some of the padding if you want to but to be honest, I don't feel this pants restrict my range of motion and padding perfectly placed. I use them over my underwear and put some baggy pants over them. It looks just a bit bulky but not too much. The foam it uses is thick and absorbs pretty much all the shock. I know it has saved my ass more than a dozen times. I think the sizing table asked for Large but I got a Medium size because I wanted them to fit perfectly and I was in between sizes. It fits pretty well. The seams appear to be good quality. I dont like that the material of the short, because it is kinda thin and it will rip easily but on the other hand it has to be thin or else you would Cook with the padding. Overall it is a great ítem, a bit pricy but gets the job done. I would reccomend im pretty satisfied.

Legit
Why did you pick this product vs others?: These pads are super legit. I bought them in 2020 and have been using them every snowboard season since. For me the best part is not getting the cold or wet butt when riding the lift or getting strapped in and waiting for buddies. I forget that I’m wearing them they are so comfortable. I just started riding motocross again and have busted them back out. I’m a fan.
