Review: Good product - Good product Review: Worth read - A very humanitarian approach to a biography. Refreshing to see India and all that comes with it from a Spanish author's perspective. Disclaimer: Views here are apolitical & I am not the one to comment on whether the subject has factual/sensational value. Overall the treatment is good and we get to know the life of a lone widow at the helm of Indian affairs (but somehow never really at the helm too), in her childhood and younger days, where we get to meet a shy asthmatic lady, brought up in a catholic Italian family, more interested in languages & cultures, and far removed from any interest in science or politics, 2nd of the three sisters & dad's pet, unambitious and with all Italian family values that finds match in Indian family values she's married into, her striking an unparallelled rapport with another shy introverted sensitive man more interested in driving cars & flying airplanes than in science what he was made to pursue at Cambridge ("to make his grandfather happy") and his mother who was at that time, the Information & Broadcasting minister of India under Shastriji government, Indian PMs later, both. Very interesting tale of India affairs weaving in & out of the personal lives of a very private couple, their reluctance & final acceptance of what destiny had in store for them. Faring two gory assassinations and one tragic accidental death in closest family she's married into, fearing the shadow of tragic death hovering over her near ones all the time and unwillingly having to take the mantle of one of the largest Indian political party & rest of the tale we know, is current news, but good to see it all from the Spanish author's viewpoint. At least no 'personality assissanation attempts' in this book. Recommended read, especially for leaders, if at all to merely get a glimse into the inside story of all that goes into pushing on with that ever needed 'balancing act' between private & 'public' life, through intertwined lives of 2 ladies & a gentleman. The book is a fresh sensitive take, double refreshing after all that 'scathinhg stuff' we see written about the family, across media & net.

History- Changer Bride From ITALY
Simple narrative about simple humble ordinary girl brought in marriage to the Charming prince- son of The Strongest PM Indira Gandhi... Finally rising to become the fulcrum of Power in Congress- the ruling party of India for about quarter of a century

Fate and fortune...
From a village in Italy to - apparently reluctantly -heading the oldest most powerful (till recently) political party of the world's largest democracy -for the longest period in its history....what fate! Written very insipidly though....maybe the Spanish version was more exciting.....

Propoganda an whitewashing of nehru/gandy family
Boring and propoganda. Sonia spoke hindi in 80s! She cooked food and was perfect bahu, no intention of getting into politics. Whitewashing Indira's corruption, rajiv dint have political aspirations, rahul and priyanka were intelligent. Waste of money.

Mirror of dark side
Very true and good book. It will be bad for Congressi who treat her as a mother or Mata. Book with good information on non political life of a politician. It is mirror of Dark side her life.

Great Book
Every page, every paragraph, every sentence, even every line of this book is interesting. His style of writing is unique. You'll not find such a style among authors from the English speaking world. Good job by Javier Moro.

Great book
A very informative book not just about Sonia Gandhi, but about the entire Gandhi family. It has all the prominent incidents covered, from Emergency to 2004 elections. Though, the book portrays Sonia Gandhi and Rajiv as those who are not capable of doing anything wrong and on the contrary, Sanjay Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi are criticized on more than one occasion. Overall, it's a nice book.

The narration of events described vividly taking the reader back to the days of Indira Gandhi and at the same time dealing with the initial years of Sonia Gandhi and her role in influencing the events as a leader of Congress Party.

Just a beautifully written story about a fascinating woman who has lived through interesting and dangerous times in a country who’s culture is so different from her own.

Very interesring. I love the way the author describes places and events, giving the feeling that you are taking part of them... I usually read his books in Spanish but loved the English version too.

Desde el primer momento, la historia te envuelve y realmente me sorprende la vocación de esta familia, muy diferente a los políticos de hoy en México. Este libro debiera de ser regalado y leído por cada funcionario para ve si así se es pega algo.
