They have run of our den but need a safe place to sleep. I love this cage. It took my husband and I about 6 hrs to put together. Don't tighten everything down until you have it together or stuff won't line up. My babies that are 5 months old are loving it. It will not be outside so don't worry about rust. I just wipe it down with Clorox wipes. Review: A lot of work to save a little money - This beast was a nightmare to assemble. You have to leave everything loose until the end or it won't fit together and that is nearly impossible with something this size. It rusted immediately. Not a lot but in several places. There is 0 protection inside the bars so if any moisture gets in they will rust from the inside out any dent or scratch also rusted within hours. I was surprised it came with only 3 dents and 2 panels that had damaged bars. They were easy to fix can fix but you have to ensure you paint over it immediately with rustoleum or it will rust, and then wait 10 days before allowing birds inside. I also painted the inside of each bars an inch or two to try to prevent internal rust. My primary concern is some of the bars are welded and not flush and there is just enough of a gap where a toe could get stuck and cause serious injury. Should either be flush or large enough for a large birds toe to get in and out. All in all of you are willing to put 40 hours of work into making it better/right, it does look nice and will work as a nice aviary. You might save 1-2 thousand on this from name brands. I got it because it is the only one that allows you to expand it. Which also means if a panel is severely damaged I dont have to buy a whole new aviary, I can buy the expansion.
