Red Miso Paste Malted Rice, Naturally Fermented in Shinshu Nagano Japan, Non-GMO, No MSG (300g)

Absolutely delicious. It was wonderful. I’ll order it again. I got this recipe on the Food Network the kitchen and JEFF Zakarian made a salad dressing with this in it. It was so good. My friends loved it. Thank you. You just got yourself another customer.

One of the reviews with photos claims that there's 300 grams of MSG in here, because under the barcode it says "Shinshu Miso Malte... MSG (300g) YAMASAN", but doesn't mention 300g of MSG on the ingredients label... Two things: First, the full product weight is 10.6oz (300g). If there were 300g of MSG in a 300g package of Miso paste, then this would literally just be a package of plain, pure MSG. Even if they were lying about the presence of MSG (which they're not), there's OBVIOUSLY not 300g in it! That would be like eating pure salt! Secondly: The official name of this product is "Miso Paste Malted Rice, Naturally Fermented in Shinshu Nagano Japan, Non-GMO, No MSG (300g)". It seems pretty clear to me that the PRODUCT NAME part of the barcode has been shortened from the above full product name to "Shinshu Miso Malte... MSG (300g) YAMASAN" in order to fit in the small space. That's how ellipses (...) are used to show that some text has been left out. It's just unfortunate that the last characters in the product name are the "MSG (300g)", while the "NO" was left out in the ellipses, and the "300g" is the total product weight. I reported that review for making false claims about the product, even if it was due to a misunderstanding about how barcode labels work, and I hope the Amazon staff will see it and remove it. Otherwise, this miso paste tasted wonderful! Much better than what I can get at my local grocery store!

I love the packaging, and for a shelf-stable product this is really great. That being said, if you can find a market where you live, you should buy the non-shelf-stable version, it's fresher and better. But for what it is, it's a good product.
