Grill Surface Thermometer

I bought this for my husband for his birthday because he was always guessing with the meat on the grill, so now he can just look at the thermometer. It works great, it made grilling a lot easier the first time we used it. There is one catch to the greatness though, it is NOT WATERPROOF! After we used it, someone tossed it in the dish sink and it ended up filling with dish water, bubbles and all! I say it's a great thermometer, I​ am going to buy a second to replace it, but we will clean it by hand and very carefully next time. Sorry, butI have to take away one start because of the issue.

Great product

I ordered this primarily to know temp of top of fireplace insert. I works excellent for this.To check it out I tried it on top of grill. Once it reached between 500 and 600 the lens seemed to steam up inside.How ever when it cooled off steam like film didn't go away like it was smoke residue from something getting to hot. That would be my guess.I contacted customer service by Amazon email. A new one was shipped immediately no questions asked. I had attached a photo to email to demonstrate the problem.I tried using the old one on my gas grill. I could still sort of see the temp reading around the edges of the smokey like film, but it became covered with smoke on outside to it was very hard to see. I was grilling with lid to grill shut.I like it on top of my fireplace insert, but will look into a temp gauge that will have a probe inside grill cover and reading lens outside.Thanks, Phil K.

easily slide around griddle surface to get temps. used a temp gun to see accuracy. only + or- 5 degrees. User tip. remove from cooking surface when u start cooking. face will get splatter on it and make it unreadable. not temp gauge fault. that was user fault. cleaned it with boiling water and baking soda.

Should have had one last year, also tell if a burner shuts off at low temperatures

This is one that does a fair job in grilling but DO NOT use if smoking. I hang it on the upper grill grate and does a good job of being close onthe temperature for grilling steaks, burgers, fish.On smoked meats: First off no smoking range on there, which is 225° for smoked meats. Also it has to be hung on the grill, so being inside defeats the purpose of keeping the lid on during smoking.

Works great. The glass gets a little clouded up but doesn't affect function at all. I was surprised how close it was to my built in thermometer.
