Great value for adirondaks!
These chairs are solid wood, they look great, they are comfortable and so much more attractively priced than other adirondak chairs. Warning: they come in a lot of pieces that must be assembled. And they are foldable, which is nice but, they have a tendency to creak and squeak, so I added some screws here and there to tighten them up cause we don't ever fold them. I also gave them a couple coats of teak oil for additional weather protection. Bought 2 a few years ago, just bought 2 more. Love 'em!

Terrible build quality
I ordered 2 and only one box had instructions. Although each box has a set of nuts, bolts, and mostly SKINNY WOOD SCREWS included, instructions are crucial. The wood screws holding most of it together are too small. The instructions correctly suggest to use a drill because there are so many, but even with my battery powered torque restricted (keeps it from over-tightening) drill, it often would make the wood give, meaning, you feel this tiny wood screw breaks some of the threads you're going into. Once assembled, it feels loose and creaks. You cant tighten more without ruining the holes. Its just a very cheap and flimsy wood. Not that the screws are better. My drill would cause the heads of the screws and philips bolt heads to "shave" off the stereotypical cheap quality metal bolts so often used from the parts of the world with the lowest quality control standards. While using a drill to screw in the screws and philips bolt heads, more often than not the heads would make it snow from the bit seemingly drilling into the head. For the price, I predict and hope 2 years of life and I'll be ok with it. I clearly bought this by mistake since I rarely, if ever, buy something this poorly rated on Amazon. My bad, but still...their bad. Definitely not for people over 200lb or planning to keep it more than a year.

Fantastic Adirondack for a fantastic price, but not perfect.
This is an amazing deal when you get down to it. About $50 for a wooden adirondack??? Yup. How do they do it? They cut out some of the labor and pass that on to the customer in savings. Please note, you will have to assemble these chairs yourself. But if you're like me, building things is kind of fun. Let me give you some background about me so you understand where this review is coming from. I am a pediatrician. I am not very mechanical. But I found that with a little common sense, time and the right tools, this was relatively easy to assemble and fun. First, the building phase. I would highly recommend a power drill, a socket wrench with a 13mm lug, and a philips screwdriver (preferable a ratcheting screwdriver if you have one). They will give you all the hardware you need, but not tools except for a small wrench, which I never used. I would also highly recommend sorting out all the parts into groups by the letters that are stamped on the wood. Initially, it is hard to see what goes where, but after you build the first one, it makes alot of sense, and you will be putting together the remaining chairs in no time. Follow the directions the first time, and look very, very closely at them so you don't screw something in the wrong way. The slats have conveniently predrilled holes and the base pieces have small holes that serve as guides. I found that sometimes things didn't line up quite right, but no worries, everything assembled just fine. One minor complaint I have is that the where the guiding holes are on the armrests don't allow for a graceful folding of the chairs, so after the first one, I bolted the armrests in a position of my choosing which worked out just fine. The first chair took me about 2h to build. The second chair took me an hour, and the last 2 took about 30min each. Don't be intimidated by having to put this together. These guys took most of the guess work out making it easy for you. The end product is I have 4 beautiful chairs, they are sturdy when I sit on them, and they fold beautifully. They are not the heaviest adirondacks I've seen, but they have a good weight behind them. A young adolescent could lift, but a smaller child might not be able to. When they fold, they are still rather big, but it is a nice feature if you want to move them around. Bottom line, these are nice looking chairs, high quality, and the price is hard to beat. If you are willing to do the work of assembling them, and have the proper tools, I highly recommend these chairs. I would warn anyone that thinks they can do this without a drill to think twice. They provide self driving wood screws and you can drive them in with a screwdriver, but there are probably 50 or so screws per chair... your arm will get tired! Buy this chair, and feel good about the price! Update 6/12/16: still pretty happy with the chairs, but have noted they are not quite as sturdy after a few parties. I'm a slender, shorter fellow so these chairs are perfect for me, however my friends are a little bigger than average and I've noted these chairs may not hold up with heavy use. For the price, I'm still happy, but in the future I might shell out extra money for more durable and sturdier chairs.

It's a $50 adirondack chair, what do you expect?
Let's just say, you get what you pay for. As an adirondack chair usually runs close to $200 each, what can you expect for something that cost $50. Putting it together took some time, but all in all it was fine with a drill. It took me about an hour to put one together (i was using a screwdriver to start), it took my boyfriend 3 seconds to sit on it and break it. The wood has a lot of knots, weak spots, we moved the plank to the front and hoped for the best. I haven't put the second chair together yet. I am trying to see if I can get replacement boards to replace the broken one, and as back up. If they allow that, i'll keep them, mostly because I have no desire to take it apart. They are definitely small but are the perfect size for a balcony in a condo or apt. Update: I contacted the manufacturer to get a replacement board. They did more than expected, after sending them some photos of the cracked board, they sent me two brand new chairs. No need to return my originals. So I still have the originals set up and use them daily, the cracked board is still holding up (for now), and I have two more as back up. I have zero complaints about these chairs. They look great and I love my little wine drinking space.

Needs varnish, it's a project, but looks a-ok
I bought two of these. I won't lie, I thought it came assembled after seeing a promo on Brad's Deals, saw the pics, and bought it. Needless to see, you get a lot of wood and nails. The wood is unvarnished. So if you're going to leave this outside or take it to a park and get caught in the rain, this won't last long. I do have a drill. The moment I started using it, little bits of wood chipped off. So I went old school with manual screwdriver. With that said, going old school can take anywhere from 2-3 hours ( maybe more? i took a beer break). The best way to look at it - I think there are 5 or 6 steps...do one or two steps a day before bedtime during the winter. I do think a cushion (not included) is useful not to make it soft, but give you a lift, otherwise it feels like you're sinking. So far it has been sturdy (i'm under 200 pounds). It does fold up, but I don't see myself taking these in the trunk of my car : it will take up space and has some weight to it (remember, i bought 2) I finished one, i'll start another. When it's done. I'll wait for the weather to warm up before I varnish the damn thing outside my balcony where it will stay. If you like projects, buy it. I may love this thing in the summer and when a get nice cushion. I'll update the rating if i do!

Poor quality and not made to last
I purchased two of these chairs in May of 2021. I read several of the reviews before purchasing as I didn't want something that wasn't going to last and wanted to be sure they had been tried out by others. When we received the chairs I LOVED how they looked and they were pretty simple to put together. They are quite light in weight compared to other Adirondacks that I have purchased so I knew they were not something that would last for 10 years but I definitely expected to get more time out of them. We had these chairs for around 6 months when we noticed them getting increasingly loose when sitting in them and the color began to fade rapidly. They were so shaky that my husband added addition screws on the legs to the seats to make them more secure. It helped, but not for long. After about 8 months of having these they were basically garbage. They are so faded, the wood is cracking and splintering all over and they are so weak the legs are bending in and the chair could collapse at any time. These are outdoor chairs and did not hold up as outdoor furniture should. We even had them on our covered deck for a portion of the time so they were not exposed fully to the weather. The only reason I gave 2 stars rather than 1 is because I did absolutely love them when they were new. super disappointed they didn't last

Excellent Value - DIY Buyers Only !
I was very anxious to write a review on this chair after the build and a couple of days use. I have to say that this chair is an excellent value, and it was fun to assemble. It looks good as an outdoor chair and is reasonably comfortable to sit in. Overall, I am very pleased with the chair, and have to say they could easily be sold for $100.00+. I would have no problem dropping $100.00 on this chair. The unfinished wood is OK and well prepared with no splinters or any features that could injure the builder. The wood is not clear, which is to be expected for the price. I loathe the aluminum screws provided, but again, the price dictates these kinds of components. Had I known it would turn out great, I would have invested a few extra dollars for stainless-steel fasteners. They will do the job, but you risk decapitating the screws in too much torque is applied. There is absolutely no need to crank any of the screws - IF everything is lined up before tightening any screws. More about that... The instructions could not be easier to follow. They did leave out a very important piece of information that could easily make the difference between success and failure: >>>>> Don't tighten the screws until the assembly has been completed. For example, the back of the chair has a lot of screws, so you would keep each screw loose until you can line up the base of the back to keep it perpendicular with the center of the upright back. Not doing this will result with a lot of explatives bandied about, and frustration. Keep everything somewhat loose until the chair is complete and correct. Then tighten all screws in one pass so none are missed. When done this way, the chair will be ultra-sturdy. Guaranteed. Small pilot holes are provided to start the screws, lining them up can be a challenge, but when the screws are loose, it's a piece of cake. If you are not a DYI person, I would find something else. I spent a total of three hours, one hour per day after work. You don't need tools. You don't need a drill for the screws, but I am a glutton for a good screw session. All you need is a good Phillip's Head, approprietly sized to the cross on the screw head. Keep it on-axis with the screw and you will have no problem. Tried and true. Assembly of the chair was extremely therapeutic and rewarding. Is the haze of the mayhem going on in the world, a constructive distraction is a very welcome event - it's just not possible to put a monetary value on that experience. *** In honesty, I wish it were more challenging. Maybe the nicest purchase I have made all year, and I have made a few.

Even a professional cabinet maker will struggle to assemble this item
Absolutely Awful Deck Chair - Zero Stars I recently purchased this deck chair and it has been a complete nightmare from start to finish. First of all, the chair arrived in a flat pack with a mind-boggling 63 screws and bolts required for assembly. 63! That alone should have been a huge red flag. After hours struggling to put this monstrosity together, I discovered that many of the pre-drilled guide holes for the screws were in the wrong places. So not only were there enough screws and bolts to build a small skyscraper, half of them didn't even line up properly. It's as if this thing was designed by a sadist. To make matters even worse, the wood is so ridiculously soft that if you accidentally put a screw in the wrong place, that hole is completely ruined and unusable. And forget about trying to make a new hole nearby - the structural integrity of the entire chair becomes compromised if you don't get it exactly right the first time. I now have a half-assembled chair with stripped out holes that wobbles like a drunken sailor. In summary, this is hands down the worst deck chair I have ever had the misfortune of buying. The assembly is a convoluted mess, the materials are garbage, and the margin for error is nonexistent. Avoid this product like the plague unless you want a chair that doubles as a torture device and triples as firewood. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy.
