How much lysine in a "scoop" dose? How many doses in a 100 gram jar?

Hi, according to what it says on the jar, "contains approximately 500 mg of L-Lysine Hydrochloride in a palatable base" I'm not sure about how many doses in a 100 gram jar (it doesn't say on the jar). I only use it occasionally, so it lasts a really long time for me. They suggest one rounded scoop twice daily. I usually just use one scoop at night in their wet food and it seems to work well enough. The scoop is small, I would guess maybe around 1/8 teaspoon? A very good product at any rate and my cats seem to love the taste and will eat it when mixed in with their wet food. Hope this helps.

What are the ingredients in Vetoquinol Viralys Powder?

I want to let people who are giving this product to their cats, what hydrolyzed food ingredients are. Hydrolysis is basically chemical digestion. The protein, in this case fish & liver, is boiled in sulfuric aced for anywhere from several hours to more than a day to break down the proteins. Then lye is added to raise the ph back to neutral. Just what I want to give my cats. Or not!!! This is the trouble with buying from the internet. The full label is usually not available & even when it is, the print is usually so tiny, not to mention blurred, as to be impossible to read.

My cat won't eat wet food & only treats that R crunchy on outside & soft inside. Which might be best chance I have ?

I recommend (as a vet) 500 mg twice daily to begin with, you can titrate up or down to the most effective dose, but always follow the recommendation of your veterinarian. Also note that l-lysine is most effective against the respiratory/ocular symptoms caused by feline herpes virus, a viral (but not venereal) disease most cats have been exposed to and, just like love, herpes virus lasts forever. The amino acid L-lysine is believed to inhibit the recrudescence of the virus during periods of physiologic stress.

I've had my car on this Lysine for years now and it truly keeps keep his feline herpes flare ups at bay. Even if he has a flare up this keeps them from getting out of control. I keep our other cat on it as well to protect her from his virus and she's free of it. I believe this really helps boost both their immune systems. Our vet originally told us about it and I was so happy to find it on here. Both our cats love the flavor and it smells just like fish - very important as cats depend heavily on their sense of smell for eating. It's super easy to mix in with their wet food and comes with a little scooper inside.

Have used product before in jel form and now am trying powder for convenience to add to can food. I think this is a very effective product/supplement. Highly recommend 👌🏻

Note that my cat was never diagnosed with a virus (herpes) infection. The Internet is also very inconsistent on the usefulness of lynsin treating cats with URI due to virus infection. So I was skeptical of this and it seems kind of expensive. I decided to give it try because 1) it is still cheaper then vet visit & prescription, and 2) I can get it on the same day delivery. My cat has been sneezing off and on for awhile. Last few days he started to eat less and sleeps a lot more then usual. Since he already had 2 rounds of antibiotics before but the sneezing still returned, I'm concerned with giving him more antibiotics. So I decided to try the herbal / natural remedies first. The result is nothing short of magical. After 2 doses, his sneezes have noticeable lessened, he is more alert, and eating better. After 2 days, his sneezing has stopped and he is chasing my other cat. I'm absolutely shocked of the fast recovery. All I can say is I'm glad that I gave this a try.
