I have a 16" betta tank. I did not realize that this light is actually only about 9-1/2" long. The rest is just a retractable arm on either sides to hang onto the tank. The retractable arms are not very secure. When I did chores with the tank, the light fell into the water a couple of times. Water then got inside the glass panel of this light and the led lights started to rust. This light is not as bright as the other led lights because it has less white light to blue/red light ratio. I wanted more blue/red lights so I expected this. My recommendation is that this light is good for perhaps only an 11" or 12" tank or the light will be too short in length (not bright enough) and it will be too easy to fall into the water.

I've bought several of these inexpensive LEDs and they work wonderfully. They are durable and have survived several accidental dunks in aquarium water with no problems. They are bright enough to grow most aquarium plants and the light they give off looks great. Light color tends to lean towards the blue side which seems to encourage plant growth rather than algae. The simple on and off switch is perfect for me: I get tired of dealing with complex dimmers and timers built into more expensive aquarium lights so I use digital timers to regulate when my aquarium lights tun on or off. My only complaint is there is no 15-inch model for standard 5.5 gallon aquariums, but the 12-inch does get the job done for a standard 5.5 gallon.

I’ve been extremely impressed with the AQUANEAT Full Spectrum 12-Inch LED Aquarium Light. It’s a perfect fit for small tanks and delivers way more brightness and clarity than I expected for the price. The light brings out vibrant colors in both fish and plants without being harsh or overwhelming. My tank looks noticeably cleaner and more lively since switching to this light. The full spectrum LEDs give a natural daylight look that really enhances the overall appearance of the aquarium. Installation was quick and easy, and the slim, low-profile design looks great on the tank without drawing attention to itself. It runs cool, feels well-built, and has been very reliable so far. I also appreciate how energy-efficient it is while still providing strong, even lighting across the entire tank. If you’re setting up a nano or small aquarium and want an affordable, dependable light that performs well, this is an excellent choice. I would absolutely buy this again and recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their aquarium lighting.

Good light but gets warm. There is only one level and it’s bright and hot. Just plug and play. Easy to setup. Wish cable was a little longer. But whatever. I can see this being good for starting to grow plants. But for small tanks, can be a little too much. Has a good spectrum for plants and wildlife. I think because it gets off so much heat. Would be better for reptiles as well. Not to use a heat lamp. But it does get warm. I used for small 2 gallon tank for shrimp and lit the tank up very well. Maybe too bright.
