TG268 Thermal Imaging Camera with Spot IR Super Resolution 320x240 (160x120 Native IR) and Bullseye Laser: Commercial Grade Infrared Camera for Building Inspection, HVAC and Electrical

I use this infrared imaging tool all the time! I just used it the other day to check my fuse panel to see if any of the wires were getting hot (I do this once a year). Wires can get hot and deform from the stress of heating and cooling, eventually they get loose enough to cause some arching, more heat and carbon buildup, which then gets even hotter and can start a fire in your fuse panel. But I mostly use this for checking temperatures on circuit boards to see if any of the parts are getting too hot. I also like that the app on my phone can show me the temperature graph as it goes up and down overtime. The images are very clear and it’s very easy to see which component on the board is getting too hot. I just need to find a way to make a stand for this device and it would be nice if you could send the thermal image from the camera via Bluetooth to a screen or a computer to show on a larger display. This is also very good for identifying cold spots in your attic or basement so many other uses! I believe this was designed for HVAC use, but it has so many other uses. I am so glad I bought this, it was worth every penny!

I'm no expert on using and interpreting the thermal images. Not even close. This unit did a good job of tracking down cold spots and indicating warm spots. For example, I had my electric throw on and sitting on the sofa, and it showed the framework of the wiring and that the wires were all working. It's easy to find hot and cold water pipes behind walls. Active electric wires too. A water leak would probably show up as a cold spot behind the wall or above the ceiling. I could see the cold attic joists through the ceiling. We had some work done but hadn't yet replaced the insulation, and you could see it through the drywall. That was pretty impressive to me. The downside is that it added to my list of things to do. I imagine if you had mice or chipmunks or worse, it would pick those up too. I don't think I'd want to go looking for them, however. :-) I picked up a possum outside on a cold night. We know the possum is around, but we didn't know where or if it was close, and it wasn't far away. We just leave it be, but it's cool to be able to "see" critters in the dark. Again, not an expert. I just wanted to find sources of cold air intrusion in the winter and this pointed me in the right direction. I was able to remediate some of the problems and make it more comfortable. It charged up quickly and it was easy to read the images. Get the initial reading of a spot, then let it focus on that spot for a minute to see what, if anything, changes. I used it for a while and didn't need to recharge the battery. I had no problems with the images stuttering or loading slowly. I didn't take too many permanent images and try to save them. It seems to do the job, it's uncomplicated, but I'm also not the person who will be using it hard. It did what it promised to do for this amateur.

nice unit. carry every day for my housing maintenance now. easy download to computer with included usb cable. here's pics from inside of water leak in the roof can see the joists and the warmer wet spots. it does "freeze" for a sec if you move to a view with something hotter or colder than the previous as it re-syncs the color range to the new temps. just wait a sec and it resets the view colors. the real image overlay is nice but wish it was adjustable other than all or nothing. the overlay can be paralax adjusted so it will line up right for close or far other reviews didnt go deep enough into the menu to find that i guess. would be nice to have a cover for the lens but at least its recessed and the included case is nice. havent tried the thermocouple yet to calibrate as it reads within 3-5F as is but that was a factor in buying choice. last pic of hot water from sink measured 120F with calibrated thermometer and 120F with the FLIR.

FLiR has always been my go to for home inspections. The reads are relatively accurate and reliable. It is easy to set up and get started out of the box. The battery life is pretty good given what it does. My only gripe would be that like others have said every so often it likes to freeze up. If you do run into this issue just hold the up key and middle key to hold and reset.

Voor de doe-het-zelver is dit een hele handige tool om tochtplekken in je huis te spotten. Het is gebruikersvriendelijk en werkt goed. MAAR: de batterij is niet verwisselbaar. Ik ben bang dat over 2-3 jaar de batterij 'op' is en ik de warmtecamera moet weggooien. Daar is dit stukje techniek mij te duur voor.

This is a brilliant piece of kit. As a motor mechanic I use this for many aspects of diagnostic work. A major tool company well known in the motor trade sell a product that is £1000 and no where near as good as this product.
