This “Spirograph”type drawing and art kit was literally one of my favorite things when I was a kid. Mine came in a much nicer kit, but that is not important, as this kit has all of the different gear type templates for hours of doodling fun! The highlight is the “ten colors in one” pen…we all wanted those as kids! I intend to play with this like I did 55 years ago and share with my granddaughter. Back in our day we had handy little stick pins to hold everything down to the paper…I’ll have to rig something for this process. Very fun set and worth the price.

I ordered this spiral gear art set to use with my daughter, who loves drawing (as do I). This set was a huge hit with both of us! It comes with a ton of different gears to give you almost endless variations and enough pieces that more than one person can use the set at a time. It also includes a really cute ten-color pen, a small pad of paper and a booklet with design tips. Everything you need to start having fun. The only thing that would’ve made this set more complete would have been adhesive putty to keep the geared frames in place. But that’s not difficult to come by. So not a problem. The quality of the gears themselves is great. Plastic that’s thick enough to hold up, without being so thick that it’s unwieldy use. The pen works great, and its colors are quite vivid. I’m sure the ink won’t last very long, since each of the cartridges must be very small. But I am very happy with it so far. The only slight complaint I have is that the pad of paper tears very easily and is a little too small. I recommend using a decent piece of art paper or at least printer paper to make the process more enjoyable. Compared to the brand-name drawing sets, this is a wonderful value! I’m pretty sure you’d have a tough time telling the brand name set from this one, yet the difference in price is striking. They seem pretty identical to me, although I am going off of decades-old memories of the brand name toy. The bottom line: if you enjoy drawing, keeping your hands busy, or having fun with a child or grandchild, I can’t recommend this spiral gear drawing set enough!
