Well made Japanese friction folder with a working edge that is easy to touch up. Thin in the pocket.

Simple, traditional and beautiful
This is an awesome knife to have in your collection. The blade was very sharp out of the box. After using a strop the blade is hair popping sharp. It’s a simple design and it works very well. Super slicey and it feels nice in your hand. The pivot will be stiff out of the box but it won’t take too much time to break it in. The knife is a piece of history and at a great price. The handle is about 4&3/4 inches and the blade is 3&1/2. Once you have the knife broken in, single-handed operation will be easy . I’ve purchased two more higonokamis of different sizes since the purchase of this one. Pick yourself up this affordable piece of history you won’t regret it.

Interesting knife
Having recently gotten into the world of japanese knives and higher carbon steels, this ~$20 knife seems pretty cool. The heritage is a good selling point and it feels very authentic. The design however is very antiquated and the quality of the finish is pretty bad. When closed the apex (cutting edge) of the blade rests on the metal it is folded into which potentially leads to edge damage. My particular knife was especially difficult to open and close, definitely a 2 hand operation and strong fingers are a must. Initial sharpness leaves a lot to be desired. Grind is very uneven from one side to the other, not apexed very good (why bother if it will be destroyed as soon as you close the knife). The finish on the spine is actually very bad, essentially it looks like it was stamped out but they didn't bother to actually finish it at all. The sides have little pin holes so its not a smooth or flat finish, but thats just cosmetic and not much of an issue, the spine though does leave a lot to be desired. I was not expecting too much from this knife as far as sharpness or ultimate finishing (its $20) but even most of the made in china walmart specials in the same price range or cheaper are better finished. The knife is solid though with almost no wobble in the blade to handle union (the tradeoff being ease of opening and closing). No locking mechanism but that was in the product description but i’ll mention it here too. One thing this knife has in its favor though is the ability to take an edge. After lots of sharpening and a long whetstone progression this knife took on an exceptional degree of sharpness that the other cheap stainless $20 knife steels just cant get to. The large mostly flat bevels help on the whetstones though to get them perfectly flat takes a long time and some coarse whetstones, though a micro bevel To finish is a must because the edge will chip if the angle is too low. The blade polishes well and easily. Just add a rubber lining to the inside of the handle to prevent contact and you’re all set. Overall it satisfies the cool factor of being a carbon steel japanese knife while also being rough enough around the edges to be used as a tool and not a decoration.

Decent knife, needs sharpened
It's a good quality knife, or seems to be. The blade steel seems pretty hard. I'm trying to grind the primary grind on out until I apex it(zero or scandi grind). It doesnt lock, it also is very stiff to open at first. I'm hoping it losens up some. Also comes very dull, you will have to sharpen this. It does feel sturdy and very I'm usable.

Authentic IMO
IMO seems to be authentic. Has all the right markings and did come in the blue and gold box! This one is not the blue paper blade. But was sharp out of the box also if you want it to flip out easily just use a bit of suubaki oil and use it.

Great knife for the price
knife is a high carbon steel folder. The only issue is prone to rust, but with some TLC. It will be ok. Made in the traditional way by Japanese smiths.
