Puts out cold air!
As it often gets well into the 90s here in the high desert, even topping 100 some days, the need for AC is a must. Our bedroom can really heat up, and we don't have central air, so this is a good option for sleeping on the hottest nights. Fortunately, our bedroom has a window we can vent out, although we have to put the unit on some boards to allow the vent hose to reach, not a big deal. The operation is of average loudness when the compressor kicks in, but we both like white noise when we sleep so this is not a problem. It definitely puts out cold air, on a few 80 degree days we had to turn it off because we were cold, nice problem to have. Like the remote control for this reason too. Combined with a room air purifier, it keeps the air clean as well as cold. I will update this review when we get our 100-degree days.

Not a bad portable AC unit at all.
We got this AC unit to help keep a workshop cool in the summer, and.. brutal honesty, here... I wasn't sure what to expect. It arrived, as well packed as you'd expect from any appliance. and casually turned upside down by UPS. *grumbling*So, we set it upright, and let it rest for 3 days, to make sure the compressor would be ok.BTW, the brand 'Electactic', seems to be a rebrand of other brands. The packaging indicates the model of this unit is: A5405-10K-AS. The first 2 parts of that model number are used by a number of other AC manufacturers, with the 'AS' apparently indicating the sub-brand of this unit.Looking at the UL label on this unit, gives us the following bits of information: This particular unit, itself, is branded as an 'Antarctic Star' unit (I assume there's the 'AS' part of sub-model), with a model of: NPL-06C/X1E, and a manufacture date of '2024'. It has a 115V~/60Hz power supply, with a power draw, while cooling, listed at 880W/7.8A. (whether this is peak draw, or average, I don't know) Total current is listed at 7.8Amps. The ASHRAE rating is 10000BTW/hr, with it's SACC at 6000BTU/hr. The 'CEER' rating is 6.6BTU/hr-W. The motor FLA is listed at 1.5A. The Compressor RLA is 6.5A, and the Compressor LRA is 27.5A. Finally, the refrigerant/charge is R32/8.1 Oz.After letting it sit for 3 days (which was good, anyway, since the temps outside turned cooler at that time), we had our first mid 70s temperatures, and the workshop started getting a bit warm.. so I decided to set the unit up, and get it running.Make sure you're exhausting this unit out a window, as instructed. That said, the first 'complaint' I have, is one that I tend to have with every portable AC, and that's the fact the exhaust hoses are usually not insulated... so when the unit is blowing hot air out a window, that exhaust hose gets warm, and starts radiating heat from it, which sort of defeats the purpose of AC. But, being that it's a common issue, I can't really detract this manufacturer for doing the same. The unit comes with an exhaust hose, as well as a drain hose (if you decide you want to permanently drain-line it, you can.. or you can just drain it when needed. It also comes with a pair of quick connectors for the hose to attach to the unit, AND, to mount the other end of the hose to an adjustable window exhaust insert. Note: the window insert is actually quite large.. you may need to cut it down to fit your window. In the case of our workshop, we have 3ft windows, and had to cut off a bit of the sliding insert for the window, to get it to expand/fit properly. One thing to note, that I like, is this unit has a design decision, which are not always present on inexpensive portable AC units. For example, the unit will not immediately power on the compressor at start, nor will it allow you to simply turn it off, without properly cycling the compressor off, and then giving it a few mins for everything to settle. Instead, it runs the fan a couple of mins, initially, on power up, before it kicks on the compressor... AND, when told to power off, it will turn off the compressor, and then continue to run the fan for 10-15 seconds, before finally turning off. Having had a number of portable units that have toasted compressors, over the decades, I'm happy to see this design. The unit has adjustable louvers, so you can aim the flow of air.. these are manually adjustable, and are not powered, so you'll have to determine the best angle of flow, for your own situation. In operation, the unit isn't exactly what I would call 'quiet', but neither is it really loud. The volume difference when the compressor is on, vs off, is fairly noticeable.Obviously, it's not in the high summer temps here, yet, so I can't speak for how well it cools in 100F+ temps, yet, but I can say at 80F and below, it does a decent job. Obviously, how insulated your room is, will determine much of how well your room stays at your selected temperatures, but suffice to say this unit does a good enough job to cool our 10x12 workshop area. I was able to bring it down to 65F, from 76F, in about 90 mins, utilizing just this unit. At that point, the compressor kicked off, and it started maintaining the temperature.. turning on to cool as needed. All in all, while I plan to eventually replace this unit (and the portable radiator that we're using to heat the workshop in the winter) with a wall mounted mini-split, for this year, I suspect this will handle everything fine.Currently, it's listed at just under $300, but is also showing out of stock. At that price point, I'd say this unit is a decent price.. not great.. but not bad, either. The only remaining question, is how long it will last.Still, for now, I can recommend this unit pretty easily.

LOUD cheaply made
I got this unit for a 400 sq ft room. Not only was it VERY loud it soon(day 2!!!) stayed shutting on-off-on-off and making worse noise. Clearly the compressor was about to clunk out. I will say Amazons return service through the chat was 5 star.

Seems to work well.
It arrived well-packed and without any damage. It's a bit heavy, but that’s typical for an A/C unit of this size. It hasn’t been warm enough yet to use it extensively, but during testing, it worked perfectly. I’ve had a slightly larger unit (10,000 BTU) for about 10 years, and this one is comparable. Both are a bit loud, but that’s expected given the amount of air they need to move and the compressor. The build quality is mostly plastic—just like my old one. It cooled well during the test, but I’m curious to see how it performs on days near 100 degrees. I’ll update this review if I run into any problems.

Works good
Paired with a ceiling fan it work great. We have a small airbnb that we were trying to keep cool and this did the trick. Easy to setup and use. Not loud at all, does have a little noise but not unbearable. Comes with a remote control which is nice. Cools good. Works well.

Gets cold fast
This is a great quality portable AC. It is fairly easy to assemble. The remote is very helpful. The air is quite strong and it gets cold quickly. However, it is quite loud. You can hear it from the other room. If that isn't an issue, I definitely recommend.

Nice flexible size portable AC.
At 10,000 BTU this can work in any bedroom or a smaller living area. AC isn't overly loud and does a great job of pumping out cold air. Set up was easy and moving the unit isn't too bad with the built-in wheels. Overall very happy with it..
