These work Great, Very Customizable, Very Responsive.
These sensors worked great, I set them up to control the lights in my room, whenever I open the door, the lights turn on and only turn on if there are no lights on already in the room. The distance threshold between the contact and the sensor is perfect, it allows for there to be some distance between the door sensor and the contact on the door frame. With HomeKit integration you can use these sensors to do a number of things from turn on lights, to activating flashing lights and sirens when the door is opened, to playing your favorite song or even turning on the tv when you enter the room, there are so many possibilities. Out of the box these sensors were so easy to setup, you simply install batteries, hold the button on sensor till it blinks, and follow on screen instructions for setup in the vocolinc app. Some things that i would have liked to see this product have is: A battery life indicator within the app. A built-in Rechargeable Battery A small speaker to chime when the door is opened Pros: - Comes with extra sticky pads in case you mess up the placement. (Which I did) Small and light weight. Batteries Included - Works with HomeKit. Cons: - Battery life is only six months. There is no battery life indicator within the app, that I know of. Overall, I am very happy with these and will be purchasing more for all the door’s around my house.

I have no complaints
This is a must-have smart accessory if you're into building a smart home with HomeKit. I didn't know I needed these until I splurged on a 2-pack. Now, whenever I walk into either my front or my side door, the hallway lights turn on for me so that I can see after sundown. I also have the sensors set to trip an alarm system if the doors open when nobody registered to the home is currently in the house. The sensors themselves are sleek and much smaller than they look in the photos. They are subtle and you hardly notice them when they're on your door or window. What I like the most about the sensors is that they work via magnetic field detection, which allows you some freedom in terms of how you set them up. For instance, they don't have to align perfectly, in case you have a doorframe that protrudes out beyond the door by a centimeter or two (see video for demonstration). A subtle green ring lights up that alerts you when it detects the door opening or closing. The sensors work super quickly - when the door opens they instantly turn the lights on. The setup process was very seamless. I find HomeKit devices to be variable in terms of how setup-friendly they are, and in general, VOCOlinc's products have never given me problems (I've been sticking with them since VOCOlinc first ever popped up on Amazon). HomeKit devices in the past for me have also been variable in terms of general lagginess, and again, I've never had a problem with VOCOlinc's devices, this one included. I can't comment personally on the battery life, but VOCOlinc advertises 6 month battery life. I did appreciate that VOCOlinc included two coin batteries in the box, as well as more than enough 3M adhesive to help you attach the sensor to whatever surface you fancy. My one and only complaint is that I see VOCOlinc does not recommend using this as a refrigerator door sensor - I don't have a fridge that beeps at me when I forget to close it all the way, so I was hoping to use this to alert me, but it appears that because of the magnetic nature of the device, the fridge application may not work. Overall, I highly recommend this product for any smart home with HomeKit. It enables you to use your doors and windows as triggers for events including lights, alarms, scenes, and more, and this particular sensor is no-fuss and easy to set up and implement, and it works super quickly.

Great HomeKit Sensor
These are great HomeKit door sensors. I haven’t tried any others but I’m at super satisfied by how well these work. I was worried about how mountable the contact is and how well Bluetooth would work but the sensor has a bit of space so it doesn’t have to butt up right next to the magnet and so far the the there haven’t been any drop outs or false readings so far. I am worried about battery life. They say it gets 6 months which doesn’t seam like a lot so hopefully they can make the software more efficient and get that number higher. I am had a bit of trouble mounting it but I think that’s because my wall isn’t flush (it has a texture behind the paint). Finally wished they hadn’t put the HomeKit sticker on the front. It would have been a lot nicer to have it on the back where nobody can see. Overall super happy with the sensors though.

I ❤️ this! Apple HomeKit setup, WiFi range, easy mount, use, Batt replacement & Fast trig Response👍
❤️I love the easy setup, (1, 2, 3!) 😍I love how nice, thin, and unobtrusive this device is. It connects to Apple HomeKit with no problems in just a few seconds. I fond several uses for these simple magnetic latching switches. 👍I use one on my garage door as a backup to the hard wired sensor for my apple HomeKit garage door opener. ( MEROSS MSG100 Available here on Amazon). 👌Oh, yeah! Also, they are great at just hanging around alerting you if someone opens a door, a cabinet, a box, your safe, anything!!!😄 😎(See the photo!), I use another one as a HomeKit switch to keep the light on when in the shower, when otherwise the light would turn off because of a lack of motion in the bathroom. All I do after stepping into the shower is lift the magnet and turn it upside down until I see the room lights brighten up to its preset 80%, (In apple home app), brightness when the switch is in the N.O. Position, but you I could set it to be N.C., as a trigger. I hold the Body of the switch to the wall next to the shower curtain, (The I.R., light, (Body Heat), can’t go through curtain. That’s why the hue motion detector can’t see into the shower and the lights used to keep turning off leaving me in the dark in the shower.), with Nano Tape a non destructive, removable tape that sticks to any surface. (This tape is Available here on Amazon and is absolutely awesome. I don’t have to make any holes in the walls of my Apartment, and I can still mount all sorts of things to any surface.), (I. E., Euffy Doorbell, August keypad. Painting, pictures and hooks that hold up brooms, mops, and all sorts of other items!) The WiFi rang of these are really great, and the battery insertion and removal is painless just twist the sensor and the body of the sensor pops right off the battery cover, (that is when you use the supplied double sided tape or the nano tape that I described above. (Batt is a Standard 2023 button cell, also available here on Amazon at great prices in bulk blister packs.). In short I’m buying more of these little awesome sensors. I’m thinking DIY Apple HomeKit input controls for many projects. 😄

Unreliable
This seemed promising at first. The setup was easy, the notifications were instant, and its small size made it visually appealing as well. However, it’s rendered useless due to the fact that it keeps disconnecting from HomeKit as soon as your phone is no longer near it, due to its reliance on Bluetooth. Even when you return home, it does not connect again… you have to remove it from your home and set it up like new.

The best deal in HomeKit contact sensors!
As a smart home enthusiast with particular interest in HomeKit accessories, I can say that I own and have tried a lot smart home products. I purchased these for a small use case of 3 patio doors that I have at our rental condos, and was more than surprised by the small form factor and just how well they work! They connect to HomeKit without the need for another app which helps for security, do not require a VOCOlinq hub and respond faster than any other sensors that I have (insert the 4 top brands here). Although I have several sensors, if any fail I will definitely be replacing any broken ones with these in the future. Great job VOCOlinq 👍🏻

Very Easy to Setup and Manage with Apple Homekit
I have a great deal of Homekit(and non Homekit) devices in my home from a variety of vendors that I've managed to integrate together into a cohesive system. Setting up the Vocolinc contact sensor was just as easy as setting up any other Homekit device. You open it up, put the included battery inside , close it up and hold down the big button for a couple seconds then when you let go you can easily add it to Homekit via either the Vocolinc app or directly from Homekit app. It paired the first time with no issues and I added it to my Home. I've include numerous pictures detailing what it looks like, what's included in the box, measured distances between the two parts showing how close they have to be in order to detect the door as closed or open as well as pictures showing it mounted on my door. The response time from opening / closing the door to when I receive a notification from the Homekit app on my iPhone or iPad is under a second consistently. I need to point out that this device does not connect to WiFi but instead connects via Bluetooth to a nearby AppleTV, HomePod or iPad(configured as a home hub). I'm fortunate enough to have a HomePod in the same room in the line of sight of the Vocolinc contact sensor. Be sure to be aware of the distance between one of those devices and where you plan to mount the contact sensor since Bluetooth has shorter range than WiFi. I've integrated it into a couple automations in Homekit and it works just as I expect it to, consistently triggers whatever devices I specify when the door is opened or closed. If there was one thing I would alter for maybe a version 2 of this device, it would be the ability to change the battery on the unit without having to peal it of off the door. Maybe some sort of sliding cover on the front? Vocolinc does provide extra adhesive in the package to replace the original if doesn't come off smoothly. Otherwise just go to a local store and pick up some 2 sided tape, it doesn't have to be super strong, the contact sensor is very light weight with a low profile.

It works. Just about.
I had high hopes for this door sensor set, it was a bargain and a rare HomeKit gadget I could really use. Set up was easy enough, until you get to the part where you want it to make a sound. It doesn’t have any presets that I could determine. Had to link it to the HomeKit, easy enough, Vocolink didn’t even require me to sign up with them to use their app and link to HomeKit. Nice. Except then you have to set up an automation for it to trigger something like a sound to occur. At this point I had to trawl through iTunes to find some door sounds that would be acceptable, and attach those to the automation. Okay cool fine. But then, whenever the door opens now, often 10-20 seconds later (not ideal) my HomePod goes “bing bong” and interrupts whatever was playing on it, and doesn’t switch back. So you can’t be listening to music on a HomePod linked to the sensor if there’s any chance the door will open. It also links up all the HomePods that it plays through, so then when you go to use one of them, it’s linked to all the others. All of this would be fine, we have HomePods that don’t get much audio played through them, but it often takes anywhere up to 30 seconds to actually make the sound, so what’s the point? I want the door to open and there to be an immediate “bing bong”, which sometimes there is, sometimes there isn’t and sometimes it’s half a minute later. It’s fine. It’s sort of working. But it’s a pain and requires too much interaction currently, and I’m unimpressed. I like that the automation through apple allows me to have it make different sounds at different volumes at different times of the day. And I like that I can set up automations to get a notification if it were to be set off while I’m not home. Range is great because it’s all on the WiFi, and the sensors seem to sense each other well, and they look nice and unobtrusive. But the whole thing needs work.
