Paired with foreflight, this item is priceless (Flying occurs in DA40, PA44 w/ G1000 & TAS) Flying in Phoenix, I have seen temperatures on the ground at 47 C and down to 0 C. I have used this device for every flight for the past 5 months and have not been let down once. The RAM mount has worked every time and has not left any damage like I have seen in other posts. On average, I use the sentry for 7 hours per day and only have to charge my device every 2-3 days. (Always great to keep an charging brick in case you forget) Backup AHRS- Paired with foreflight, the AHRS is incredibly helpful. Even with the base subscription, you will have the AHRS system on your iPad. With the higher versions, AHRS is paired with synthetic vision and traffic spotting on screen. Traffic Alerting & ADS-B- Flying in the mountainous terrain, I have never lost GPS, but have lost ADS-B tower reception between Yuma and Phoenix on a few occasions. Weather updates very frequently on its own, and the weather radar has proven to be very accurate in my experience. Flying between Phoenix and SoCal is uneventful weather wise, but the system also automatically updates and displays TFR's on foreflight as well. I have read multiple reviews about the CO detector not working, and this is far from true with my device. During a night flight the CO detector saved me and 2 other occupants in the aircraft. Having read reviews of people saying the CO detector is faulty, when it started warning of 75 PPM, we simply ignored the reading. (Relying on the aircrafts CO detector) After a few minutes, the device was reading 325 PPM, we turned back to the field. When we returned to the field, MX ops checked the aircraft and had a reading of 350 PPM. Overall, this product is highly reliable and worth every penny in my experience. The school I fly out of has a few stratus’s that they sign out, but this product has proven to do the same job, if not better for far less. Review: Works very well. - Great product, good value. Provides live weather, traffic and important info on iPad.

The best product/equipment.
If you use ForeFlight and want accurate traffic and weather information without complicated setups, the Sentry ADS-B Standard is a perfect choice. It delivers strong performance, reliable connectivity, and an extra measure of safety in every flight.

Invaluable tool for the 21st century cockpit
Works as advertised. Great battery, excellent integration to Foreflight. ADS-B IN data is super. Receiver seemed to work as expected. Most of my flying since purchase has been 3500 - 15,500, and coverage has been good throughout the SW USA. Already had two particularly helpful events worth noting - returning to So Cal there was a turbulence Sigmet that popped up. Without ADS-B, I'd not seen the SIGMET, and I would not have been able to see in detail where the turbulence extended that only ADS-B shows. My flying partner is not at all comfortable with turbulence, and this was particularly nasty stuff. As we diverted to the south, adding only 5-10 minutes to our flight, we heard ATC talking to everyone, airliners especially, trying to get out of and avoid what was mod to severe turbulence. The other event was a night time departure, alone, and in the climb out the CO2 alert went to yellow. I immediately turned around and landed, only to find that the other cabin door was not completely shut. Big mistake on my part - I just didn't see it in the dark(good lesson learned about better lighting during preflight and overall when operating after sundown), and I'd have never seen the little CO2 indicator on the dash in the dark. Could have ended up very bad without this device.

Great reception, compact and simple!
Compact, simple, perfect! If you use ForeFlight, get it! I originally bought a Stratux because of the price, found it to be bulky, cords, battery, antennas, it was a mess, so I tried the Sentry. I compared the two on the ground and in the air. I had much better luck with the sentry. For example, if the Sentry would pick up 12 aircraft, my stratux would only show only 3 maybe 4 aircraft. The AHRS worked the same on both, couldn’t notice any difference with the backup attitude indicator. (As far as the ADSB and picking up aircraft with the Stratux, I’m pretty sure I just had a bad unit. I compared the sentry to a friends Stratux, and they seemed to work the same) Also I compared the Sentry while flying with my Instructor’s Stratus 3, I couldn’t tell any noticeable difference. Performance and reception both seemed to be the same with the ADSB and AHRS. Bottom line, I’m super happy with it, I’d buy another one if I lose this one

Reasonably satisfied.
I’ve had the device for about 16 months and use it on all cross country flights and some local flying. It has worked pretty well for the most part. On a couple of occasions I had to restart the unit because of sudden disconnection from my mini. Not sure if it was due to heat. The unit did reconnect immediately after restart. It wasn’t a huge deal because familiarity with the airspace but I could see how this would be alarming if I didn’t have the comfort of the fairly complex airspace (LAX). I’ve never owned a stratus so I really can’t compare. The reviews on that device suggest that mounting and reliability with direct exposure are a problem. I dunno. As far as the mounting is concerned it is very good. I haven’t had any issue with damage to the window. I mount the unit to my side window for ease of orientation and proximity (1984 archer ii). I keep in on the charger so having that draped across the panel is only a minor nuisance. Overall I’m happy with the purchase but the ‘cutting out’ is something that I’ll continue to monitor. It certainly a reason to look at Stratus if it becomes an issue. However , I just hasn’t happened with any frequency (maybe 2-3 times in 16 months).
