Amigurumi: San-X Crochet Patterns Review: Amigurumi Japanese craft book—know what to expect!! - I already own the original Japanese version of this book and was super stoked to see the English version and purchased a copy. This book does not deserve the general low rating it has here on desertcart. Yes, the crochet patterns are symbol charts, but if you’re have seen and are familiar with Japanese craft amigurumi books then you know this is the standard and should have no problem making these patterns. The reason I purchased this book in English format is to gain a little more insight and clarity into the pattern construction and heck, just to enjoy being able to finally read all the little captions since I don’t read Japanese. Crochet symbol charts are generally universal so if you’re not familiar with it then do a little research online and you’ll be whipping up these adorable characters up in no time. Review: Advanced but cute book - Super cute a little advanced. I got this for my sister for her birthday last year and she loved it.

Advanced Intermediate Book
High quality Amigurumi patterns, but not for beginners! Some intermediates may struggle as well since you're working off of charts and some of the more complex steps aren't thoroughly explained (ex. Mamegoma pattern). They include tips, symbol guides, and info on how to order Hamanaka yarn for English readers in the back of the book. Overall, I wonderful book. The chart format is great and they include row tables as well.

So many clothes!
So I’d recommend this book for intermediate+ level since it uses grid patterns and kinda glazes over certain steps and is a bit weird if you don’t understand all the terms. I’d suggest reading the glossary in the back of the book to brush up and get to know the symbols. The patterns will often suggest splitting the ply of the yarn so using a higher quality yarn is a good plan, a wool mix was very comfy on my hands and is much softer than a cotton which most people use.

PATTERNS ARE IN CHART FORMAT ONLY
I really love the cute patterns but was disappointed that they are in charts only. I'm experienced crocheter 20+ years but I've never learned to read charts. These amigurumi are sooooo cute that I've decided to keep the book and learn how to read patterns so I can make the items. There's a ton of videos out there on how to read charts so it shouldn't be too hard.

Wow!
Ahh! It is a small and super cute book! Much much cuter than I thought with all the little outfits and accessories. Hope patterns turn out well!

Great book!
great for people who loves san-x characters. even includes patterns for cute outfits for the characters. thing to note is that patterns are japanese charts. takes a little more time to understand them if you aren't familiar with them.

The book reached at record speed even through the current lockdown crisis in India. I was very surprised, thank you so much for the amazing service. A few notes on the book - Crochet terminology is in US standards - The patterns are in charts so learning how to read a crochet chart would be very helpful to understand these charts better! The book also has a stitch glossary which explains the stitches used in the chart. -The patterns are based of Sanrio's designs of Rilakkuma and a few characters from the sentimental circus series-- Sanrio is known for licensing the"cute/kawaii" aesthetic branding and designs for many products in Japan- Hello Kitty being one of their very popular licenses ( even if you aren't a fan of these things it's a great book to have in the collection and loads to learn from for your future projects!) - The book is great for advanced and beginners alike but please remember to look up crochet charts before committing to this purchase and you should be fine :)

If you're a fan of Rilakkuma and other San-X characters, this is the book for you! The instructions are not worded instructions, but visual pattern charts which comes with clear instructions on how to read it. Very enjoyable book for amigurumi making!

Gorgeous wee book. Yes it’s all charted, and is never used a crochet chart before, but it was clearly set out and logical. I’ve made one so far and it turned out really well for a first attempt. The assembly is a bit of a pain but that’s a personal thing and the book gives a very clear guideline for assembling. Definitely I’d recommend giving it a go, it is all set up to help you succeed in making the characters, and given the price of buying the plushies, I think it’s worth the investment of time in perfecting the making of them.
