Upon taking the product out of the box, I noticed a small orange spot on the side of the tube that didn’t seem to be related to the white cream inside. I am still not sure what it is but I cleaned it with alcohol just to be safe. The serum has an herbal, minty scent reminiscent of tea tree, but it's subtle once applied to the face. It has a gel texture that absorbs quickly, leaving the skin feeling matte but moisturized. The spicules do sting but it feels similar to the irritation from over-exfoliating rather than a painful sensation. I am writing this review after using this product for 3 weeks and my tolerance has slightly increased so now the spicules feel more like itching instead of stinging. Interestingly, the roller helps alleviate some of the discomfort, and using a fan also helps dissipate the irritation faster. I don't feel anything after a few minutes when the product fully absorbs into my skin. After using it three times a week for 3 weeks, I noticed that my skin looks less dehydrated, brighter, more even, less dull and my post-acne marks have lightened a bit. I have two major concerns about this product. First, the instructions are vague—there’s no guidance on how much serum to use or how often to apply it. I had to read reviews of similar products from other brands to get an idea of how to best use this product. This lack of clarity from PESTLO is particularly troubling for a product that can be irritating. And second, the design is more complicated than it needs to be and detracts from the overall experience. There’s no seal between the roller and the bottle, so you have to trust that the cap and box provide enough protection. The design also makes it difficult to gauge how much product is being dispensed since the roller obstructs your view. Additionally, there's often leftover product trapped between the roller and the tube opening, which feels wasteful. I found a more effective application method by opening the tube and dispensing the serum onto my finger before applying it directly to my face. This allows me to see how much product I'm using and minimizes waste. While I like the concept behind the PESTLO Rejurecipe Spicule Roller Serum, the execution has several shortcomings. The roller and serum would fare better as separate components to provide better visibility of the product being used. Given the potential for irritation from the spicules, clear instructions and a more user-friendly design are crucial for ensuring safe and effective use. Overall, I see potential in this product but believe improvements are needed for a better experience.
