Loaned my old wooden one out a few months ago which caused its demise. Did wander if the plastic version would be as good and accurate but can now say that this is easy to use, provides a very fine, easily followed line with 100% level accuracy.

this piece of equipment is essential in my eyes for altering dresses, as many shop bought dresses these days are not made level, but with this hem marker you can achieve a perfectly even dress. one of the parts broke off (that is the only reason i scored it 4 stars) so i emailed the company and they were very helpful and sent a replacement part in a short period of time. definitely recommend!!

This is just what I needed, great value for money

Very light and flimsy - arrived covered in chalk as the polythene bag containing the chalk had leaked. Container would not open to enable filling with chalk - to top this, I had to pay return postage - not-so happy Christmas present.

The main metal tube of the stand is quite thin and no weight to it, so knocks over easily. The way the legs lock into the base make the lowest setting very high and you have to get the dress wearer to stand on a step stool. The legs also fall out of their holes from time to time. The chalk reservoir is so stiff when you push it into the top part of the marker and was difficult to undo (finally managed it and rubbed down edge of reservoir pot with sandpaper, which helped). Not worth the money. But persevering with it and doing modifications myself to improve it.

A fabulous piece of kit !

I read all the reviews before buying this marker last year and agreed that it is the only way to get a straight hemline on a dress/skirt. I remember having one years ago. When I used it right away it was acceptable, although not perfectly even all the way around the dress I was marking. I used it again recently and it was absolute rubbish. The chalk would not come out no matter how hard I pumped the bulb, so I tried to widen the opening where the puff of chalk comes out. This resulted in a big blotch of chalk on my dress, and it stopped working after that. I just want to throw the thing away as a disappointing mistake. Does anyone have any ideas what may have gone wrong????
