Misleading! This is definitely not ghost hunting equipment. This is just a useless radio!

This review is for the "Saillong Ghost Hunting Equipment Ghost Box Radio Paranormal Equipment Investigation Hunting Device for Paranormal Investigations". Unfortunately, that product name is terribly misleading, as many other reviews have mentioned. This is actually a below average AM/FM pocket radio. The model I received is HanRongDa HRD-903. I purchased this radio because I saw the picture and thought, "Huh...that looks an awful lot like the HanRongDa HRD-747 / Retekess TR110 / Raddy RF760." Curiosity got the best of me in buying this thing. Anyway, I'm writing this review as someone who enjoys collecting portable and pocket radios and DXing, and not as a someone who gets into ghost hunting. This radio is not very good. I normally prefer to hold off on writing reviews until I've had a few days with a product, but it was pretty clear right away that this radio is below average with some glaring issues. The resemblance to the HRD-747, TR110, and RF760 is definitely there, but upon closer inspection it's clear that the resemblance mostly cosmetic. I did not open the case yet to see what the DSP chip is, but I was able to confirm that the display is definitely not the same one used for the HRD-747, TR110, and RF760. Sensitivity is typical of most cheap AM/FM receivers, as is the selectivity. The tuning control is VERY frustrating. I'd say at least 25% of the time the tuned frequency would jump an extra step or go in the wrong direction when I turn the control by one detent. On top of that, the "feature" that causes scanning to begin if you turn the control fairly quickly, well it's far too quick to start scanning. So basically you have to tune slowly while dealing with the random jumping backward or an extra step forward. Very annoying. The antenna is surprisingly long. Unlike the TR110 that I had for a short time, this one doesn't feel like it's going to wobble out of the radio case. However, the thinnest two sections of the antenna are so thin that you have to be very, very careful not to bend them. I found what looks like a dead pixel or something on the top edge of the display. I do appreciate that this radio is powered by AA batteries rather than a built-in one. I was also surprised that the battery level indicator was accurate despite me using rechargeable batteries. Many radios will show the battery as not being full when using rechargeables because of the lower voltage compared to non-rechargeable batteries. The headphone audio is stereo and sounds pretty good in my opinion. Great to see that it's possible to change the AM tuning step to 9 or 10 khz. When the radio is off and the time is displayed, hold the M- and MEMO buttons down for a couple seconds until 9 or 10 show on the screen, then use the volume up/down buttons to change it. The setting will go away after a few seconds of no buttons pressed. Also very frustrating is the fact that if you tune to a station and then change the band, when you return to the band on which you had the station tuned you're back to the bottom of the band again. In other words, it doesn't save the spot you'd tuned to previously. Nothing else noteworthy at this point. I will update the review later after I spend more time with it. It's hard to recommend this radio if you're wanting to buy something for AM/FM listening. And if you're looking for a spirit box for ghost hunting, keep looking as this is just a cheap, lackluster radio and nothing more!

This is a MANUAL operating spirit box there is on YouTube many videos showing how to do it value for money it’s well made radio but it is misleading in function calling it regular spirit box when it’s Manual turn scan on dial wheel type of spirit box just regular radio. it is sad the other ghost boxes are not as well built as radio for sound quality.

Misleading af. It is NOT a spirit box. Its not even a very good AM/FM Radio. The "Channel scanning" mode doesn't even stop to pickup stations, and no white noise in between. Was super excited to use it for some ghost hunting. Especially because usually REAL spirit boxes are over $100. Battery cover also falls off easily. Only good thing about it is the price, and even it's not even a good deal for this piece of junk. If I could give zero stars, I would. Functionality? I mean. Its a radio. It works, but even as a radio, its poor sound quality.

Just a digial radio. No instructions for use in paranormal investigating just a lie to sell a simple am fm radio.

I would give this piece of garbage zero stars if I could. Advertised as a ghost box and yet it can't be used as a ghost box. It's just a regular old radio with no frequency sweep setting. I will be getting a refund immediately.
