Perfectly fits, perfectly working. Seems durable, but time will tell that.

Fantastic Replacement Locking Gearbox
My old uPVC gearbox gave up the ghost and would only lock/unlock with real difficulty. Finally, it wouldn't lock at all, which was a real security issue. This is a direct replacement for my old gearbox, cost less than half of the price quoted by lock retailers for the part only and took twenty minutes to fit. You MUST take the old one out and measure it so you are sure you get the right item as they come in lots of size variations. Also, search YouTube to see how to fit the gearbox - you don't need to take all of the door edge-strip off. Be sure that the two lugs are located properly before you put all the screws back [you'll need a T20 bit and a Phillips]. Do that and you are sorted, and will have a perfectly-locking door, and will have saved c£200 over calling out a locksmith.

Good replacement
This is a good replacement - there is a die cast part inside it that had snapped on my old lock which meant the key wouldnt lock the door. I took apart the door strip with the mechanism and took it all apart. Found this lock and it is an identical replacment and was very easy to replace - took 30 mins. Even with no experience id recommend anyone give it a go.

Exactly the same as the 16 year old part I had to replace
This Safeware gearbox is exactly the same as the one it replaced in everyway. So glad I found it on Amazon and it probably saved me £300 (after looking at the video on how to replace). Dismantling the old one and it is very complicated inside and you wonder how they manage to make a part as obviously well engineered for so little cost. Perfect fit and that includes having to use the original fixing screws. Very satisfied with this!

Awful experience
This is meant to be the replica of the one I took out. My door initially failed to lock. Upon removing the mechanism I could see a piece had snapped inside the gearbox. I checked the brand and measured the existing to ensure it was like for like. It arrived, side by side it looked exactly what I took out. I simply reconnected the gearbox, ensure the “arms” that engage the entire mechanism we’re connected and tightened. At first the new gearbox would not engage. I triple checked it was all connected, and it was. Then eventually the handle spindle triggered the rest. So I connected the entire mechanism back on the door. Re-inserted the Yale lock. And finally connected the handle. Lifted the handle. Success. The whole mechanism engaged. Shut the door. Tried again. And again, engaged. And yet despite the mechanism being fully engaged, I cannot lock the door via the key! It’s not turning fully to complete the lock. I’ve spent hours messing about, making adjustments, and I’m no better than when I started! As I still cannot lock the damn door
