AC30 Power Filter, 10-30 US Gal / 38-114 L - Fluval USA (fluvalaquatics.com)

Awesome HOB filter. My original filter died and I replaced it with this AC30 for my 20gal. Quality: This filter is good quality. It comes with 4 filters, all of which seem to be good. It is a nice clear plastic (hence the name aquaclear). The box seemed sturdy however the lid to the filter seems a little light and cheap. The impeller housing seems solid and I don't hear the impeller rattling or anything. It makes a nice flow of water and almost laminar flow actually. Nice! Sound: It is fairly quiet. I can hear a small hum but the fall of the water makes more noise than the filter and thst all depends on your water level too. I personally like the "waterfall" sound. I don't hear rattling or vibration noises though. Features: It has a small lever for adjusting the water flowrate. There is quite a difference between minimum and maximum settings, unlike cheaper filters that use the "turn the dial" function. It comes with 4 filters. One sponge goes on the inlet tube. This is great to help protect shrimp and small fish/fry. Then water goes thru the pump and through a second sponge. Then it flows through a bio-filter and a carbon filter. One other nice feature is it will self prime provided it has water in the housing. It took about 30 seconds to get going but was fine afterwards. My last filter I had to make a siphon and help it along....not with this one, much nicer. Other: I always go one size up on filters for my aquariums. I'd rather have a pump that doesn't need to work at full force to meet my gallon requirement. I use my AC30 on a 20gal aquarium vs buying the AC20 for example. If I had a 30gal I'd buy the AC50. It is worth spending the little extra money and not push your filter to its limits all the time. Also more filtration capacity is never a bad thing. I used Purigen on my last filter. You could replace the carbon filter with your own filter/bag of purigen or polishing sponge but for now I am using the stock carbon filter. There is not much room to add other stuff if you use the 3 stock filters that go in the housing. Part of me thinks I might cut my 2nd sponge in half and add a bag of purigen there or just on top of all the filters. Overall this is a great power filter. It is cosmetically pleasing and of good quality. Nice internal filters and good flow rate adjustments without being too loud. Good buy!!!

One of the best HOB filter in the market with great bio media room

Do not buy this product unless you live in Europe. It comes with European electric plug. It works on 220V. It is not going to work in the US. And for return you will need to pay for shipping out of your own pocket which will be almost twice more than the price of the merchandise. Amazon will compensate only up to $20 of shipping cost. The cheapest shipping rate I was offered was $56. Amazon does not offer its own return policy. Why do they sell European electronic products in the US? It is very disappointing.

When fluval bought out aqua clear and redesigned the filters I was impressed with the 110 and even with the 30 I am so smitten and love them. The edges aren't sharp cutting your hands up when cleaning, t6h3 baskets are better designed to hold sponge and carbon better keeping them in place and stop them from floating up. Can't say enough about it. Converted all 8 over to the new design even though I didn't need to. Best decision ever!

You know, I've seen all the videos, bought a Seachem Tidal 35 because of the high praise, and while its convenience of self-priming is great, the noise was just too annoying. The Aquaclear is a bit quieter by like 3-4 decibels, but the noise it makes is a lot more tolerable, just a slight hum, no other unpredictable noises that could keep you up. My only gripe is that the waterfall is a bit too high; you can hear the water a lot more than the tidal. I just extended the output with some plastic and solved the problem. It would have been nice to have an attachment. It seems to autoprime after being disconnected; however, it is not guaranteed. I haven't had it not prime once testing it. If you have a fishroom, I would highly recommend the Tidal due to its self-priming. But if it's in the bedroom, Aquaclear is the winner.

Etsy 3d printed media basket and seachem matrix make this bad buy about as good as a canister filter for a fraction of the price. It’s also very quiet.

This is the original Aqua Clear filter that’s been around for decades, and cannot be beat. Highly flexible for media choices, and I like that it is a slightly grey clear plastic so looks better on a rimless tank than solid black, or other HOB filters with crayola blue or red features. You cannot go wrong with this filter. I have some that are more than 20 years old, and the fluval version seems to have kept the same design and function.

He estado probando el AquaClear AC30 durante varios días en un acuario de tamaño medio, y la verdad, me ha dejado bastante satisfecho. La instalación es pan comido: lo cuelgas, añades los medios que trae y en un minuto está trabajando. El flujo es potente pero regulable, así que puedes ajustarlo para que no parezca que tus peces están haciendo remo olímpico. Lo que más me ha gustado es que mantiene el agua muy clara sin necesitar estar encima de él cada dos días. El mantenimiento es sencillo: un aclarado rápido a la esponja y listo. Además, la cestilla del filtro deja hueco para personalizar los materiales, algo que siempre viene bien si te gusta afinar la filtración. Eso sí, no todo es perfecto. Al arrancar puede hacer un ruidito durante unos segundos hasta que se estabiliza, nada escandaloso pero se nota si estás cerca. Y para acuarios más grandes se quedará cortito, está pensado para lo que está. Conclusión: Un filtro “de los que funcionan” sin complicarse la vida: fiable, fácil de mantener y con buen rendimiento para acuarios medianos. Lo recomendaría sin dudar para quien busque calidad sin romper la hucha

Just arrived and ir looks good. Can't comment on how good it is as I've only just installed it but it comes with good reviews on YouTube. That said Uk residents please note it comes with a US plug.

Ik kocht dit filter in december 2025 ter vervanging van mijn Superfish 100 hang on filter. Het superfish 100 hang on filter deed het eigenlijk prima, ik had altijd crystal clear water, dus wat filtering betreft geen probleem. Wat mij echter tegenviel aan dit Superfish 100 filter zijn de replaceable cartridges, die moeilijk open te krijgen zijn indien je ze wilt reinigen (daar zijn ze niet voor ontworpen, superfish wil graag dat je maandelijks nieuwe cartridges koopt) en tevens is de hoeveelheid en diversiteit van het filter media beperkt en of minder dan in het Fluval AC 30 filter, ook de pomp capaciteit van het superfish filter is wat matig, daarom viel mij dit Fluval AC 30 filter op. Tevens aangemoedigd door heel veel goede recensies besloot ik dit filter te kopen. Ok het eerste wat mij opviel en tegenviel aan het Fluval AC30 filter is dat de plastic behuizing en onderdelen (behalve de motor) wat goedkoop en dun aanvoelde t.o.v. het superfish 100 filter, welke duidelijk wat degelijker er uit ziet en ook aanvoelt. (degelijker gebouwd) Het Fluval AC30 filter is ook wat simpel (er) uitgevoerd. Maar ok, dat zegt verder niets over de capaciteiten van dit filter. In ieder geval heeft het Fluval filter duidelijk meer pompcapaciteit dan het superfish 100 filter. De instelling voor de hoeveelheid flow is erg simpel in het Fluval filter, maar werkt wel goed en is nauwkeurig in te stellen. Ik gebruik dit filter op een superscape 45 aquarium (45 liter), dus ik moest de flow vrijwel op het laagste nivo instellen, maar dat werkt goed. (ook gunstig voor de refiltratie wat ook een voordeel is van dit filter, dus betere filtering) De hoeveelheid filter materiaal in dit Fluval filter is een groot voordeel, meer filtermateriaal en diversiteit van het materiaal zorgt voor een zeer goede en betere filtering en tevens is het filter en de filtermedia zeer makkelijk te reinigen door de makkelijke bereikbaarheid, dat is allemaal prima. Tevens is het een zeer stil filter, je hoort hem vrijwel niet. Ook is het relatief kleine formaat een voordeel, je wil geen hele grote bak aan je tank hangen. Het filter doet zijn werk goed, crystal clear water, dat het filter is gemaakt van goedkoop aanvoelend plastic zegt dus niets over de filterkwaliteit. Maar ok, ik had liever gezien dat het wat degelijker was gebouwd. Toch een 5 sterren beoordeling vanwege goed prestaties van het filter, een duidelijke koop aanbeveling.
