I'm a 33" waist and the medium fits perfectly around the waist and snuggly around my bum, crotch and top of legs. The elasticated waist allows for plenty of expansion after eating a large meal, for example, so no issue there.The problem comes from the fact that the rest of trousers’ poly-cotton, very lightweight material doesn't stretch at all so when you put stuff in the pockets - and being cargo shorts it has 5 of them - then the shorts become tight, rub on your skin and restrict movement.Also, as other reviewers have mentioned - the distance between the top of the shorts and the bottom of the crotch seems overly large, so unless you keep the waist band up by your belly button, the non-stretch material restricts your movement of your legs, especially walking up inclines or stairs.Amazing price, they look good (after removing all the dangling threads) but are spoiled by the cheap, non-stretch poly-cotton fabric and odd cut.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Please stay away from these rough cut shorts it’s a con. I can’t get them back they were a gift but post distance means unprofitable to do anything about the shorts that are not fit for purpose. Once I get them I’ll photograph proof

After a dew wears the stitching come out from the crotch not sure if I can get them repaired

These shorts cost £10 and for that price I can't complain about the quality. The reason for the four-star rating is that the pockets are smaller than is usual with cargo shorts, and there is only one back pocket. No doubt that is how the manufacturers manage to keep the price down to a tenner. The smaller pockets do represent a significant inconvenience, though - it is difficult to keep a large smart phone, wallet and sunglasses in them, thus removing one of the key advantages of cargo shorts over normal trousers.
