Excellent Battery Monitor — Very Convenient Bluetooth Monitoring
I bought the Victron Energy Smart Battery Shunt to add Bluetooth monitoring to my battery power box, and so far it has worked really well. I haven’t noticed any interference or RFI issues, though I don’t have a precise way to test for it. I’m happy to have this separate smart shunt rather than relying on built-in Bluetooth on a LiFePO4 battery. The setup was straightforward, and the detailed in-app insights are very helpful for tracking battery health and usage. Potential Uses: Monitoring home-built battery power boxes Off-grid solar systems and battery banks RV, camper, or marine battery monitoring Ham radio or portable electronics power setups Tracking deep-cycle battery health and usage Measuring current, voltage, and state-of-charge in DIY projects Managing multiple 12V–70V battery systems Disclaimer: This review reflects my personal experience only and is not professional electrical or technical advice. Always follow proper safety procedures and consult a qualified professional for installation or use of high-capacity batteries and monitoring devices.

Important for people to know....
Although this shunt will work as a standalone monitor this is NOT its intended purpose. Victron system devices are meant to work together. When I bought this I was intending to use this as standalone using Bluetooth for monitoring. Like others have said, the Bluetooth is not great. Not only is the range very short but if you stay connected too long there will be frequent Bluetooth connection "losses". This is quoted because it's not just disconnected but when you try to reconnect the shunt will act as if it's still connected which the only remedy is to pull the small power wire. After a bit of learning more about Victron products, which are the best of the best, I've learned the ve.direct port is where all the magic happens. I already have a Victron SmartSolar 150/60Tr and now this shunt. I like to watch it CONSTANTLY and couldn't keep having to pull power on both the SmartSolar and the Shunt just to get it to continue working after Bluetooth fails. Also to note, when you pull the SmartShunt power to power cycle it it will lose it current SOC reading. It will fix itself once you hit Absorb and Float but that's not always helpful if you're already sitting as a low DOD. The missing magic box for monitoring everything, not just locally but also when away, is the CerboGX. This will allow you to connect the SmartSolar and SmartShunt via ve.direct then you can connect the CerboGX to either WIFI, for away monitoring, or connect to it via Bluetooth, for local monitoring, which seems to have a much more stable connection. Fortunately for me I have a Alcatel 4G router with ethernet port, which the CerboGX also has an ethernet port. Now I have the 4G router running off the LiFePO system and connected to the CerboGX so there's never downtime. The next step was setting up an account in the VRM portal which was insanely easy and now have SO much more details and trend graphs to monitor not only real time but MUCH more such as battery curve on discharge, solar voltage, solar amp, total amps used, battery charge cycles....the list is massive and has everything you could possibly want. Yes the CerboGX is a little costly, which caused much hesitation when initially choosing it, but after getting it and fully setting it up it has been WELL worth every single penny. If you're going to make the investment into the amazing Victron ecosystem it's best to do it the right way. You will not be disappointed and will only want to see just how much more amazing it can get....and Victron devices can expand further than your wildest imagination. I can't express enough just how much I initially wanted to go cheap but let me tell you....you will need to buy more components to any system and Victron makes this near dummy proof. Just read the manuals for each device carefully and don't go over any limits they set. That's all I have for you, happy solar harvesting!! My System: -10x Renogy 100w compact with their tilt brackets (5S2P) -Victron SmartSolar 150/60Tr (yes over-paneled to get to peak charge sooner) -Victron SmartShunt 500a -Victron CerboGX -2x Chins 12v300a (2P for 12v system/ gives me options to go 2S for 24v) -12v1200w Giandel (2400w surge for a few seconds) Considering 24v3000w Giandel and all I'd need to upgrade to a 24v system then many fuses and circuit breakers throughout I know my pictures have a wiring mess but this is only due to not knowing what more I was going to add/change in the system. Once I decide if I'm staying 12v or move to 24v, and get the 24v inverter(they're MUCH bigger but all I need for this change) then I will be changing fuses/breakers and bundling all wires to fit my usually OCD/Perfectionist tendencies. And yes that is a raspberry pi screen I'm using for direct monitor from the CerboGX haha I also included the VRM (Victron Remote Management) views from PC, 2 darker views, and the one from the mobile device app. Thought that might be helpful in understanding the value of the CerboGX and VRM (which a VRM account is free)

Works great—and saved me from unexpected "dead boat syndrome"!
I installed the Victron Energy Smart Battery Shunt to keep an eye on my boat’s starter battery, and honestly, I wish I had done it sooner. The Bluetooth monitoring works perfectly—I can now check my battery’s status from anywhere on the boat without doing the awkward “lean over the engine bay and pray” maneuver. The readings are accurate, the setup was simple, and it’s already prevented at least one “guess we’re not going anywhere today” moment. For fellow boaters who like reliable tech (and dislike being stranded at the dock looking confused), this thing is worth every penny. If my starter battery had feelings, I’m pretty sure it would thank me. Highly recommend—5 stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great product; easy to install; could be better with extended range Bluetooth connectivity.
Check your battery ah capacity to make sure you order the version you need. No sense ordering a 500w monitor when you only have 200 ah of capacity.

Important and easy to use
Super easy to connect and get setup and working. Hardest part is figuring out your cabling. Information it provides about system is awesome. First thing to look at to see what’s going on.

1st unit was defective. 2nd unit works great
This is a very cool device and exactly what I wanted. If you have a Bluetooth battery, you might not need this, but otherwise it's very difficult to monitor what's going on with your lifepo4 battery without a device like this. Lots of products have a wired physical monitor that you have to mount somewhere in your RV. I didn't want this and much prefer to use the Victron app on my smartphone. Installation literally takes maybe 15 minutes and there are multiple how to videos on YouTube. My issue was that I installed it, plugged it in to power and absolutely nothing happened. The support material said that this was extremely rare and to check the inline fuse. Did that, good power, no issues there, but the unit was simply DEAD. I immediately returned it less than 24 hours after receiving it and ordered another one. For some reason I don't understand, Amazon says that it will take 35 days to issue me a refund!! What the heck?? Anyway the 2nd unit arrived in 24 hours and it powered up perfectly, so the issue was clearly with the 1st unit being defective and nothing that I had done wrong. The 2nd unit fired up immediately and is working perfectly. The Victron app allows for a bunch of customization and provides all kinds of data both real time and historical. If you're comfortable using a smartphone app, this is the way to go. I now know exactly what's going on with my battery. It seems to be pretty heavy duty, but time will tell how long it lasts.

I've been upgrading the boat's front end electrical system including a 120 amp alternator, so I needed to upgrade from my 100 AMP Shunts. This thing is fabulous. (It's in the project box on the top right of the image). no more wiring loom going to a display. Along with the Victron shore power charger I can now see much of my electrical system performance right on my phone from the cockpit thanks to the bluetooth connection. Dead easy to install, I have it hooked up to my house bank, but it also can monitor my start battery. Makes diagnosis of problems much easier having all the data in my pocket anywhere on the boat. BT range is not huge but adequate. Can be blocked by the engine depending on where I stand. but the BT booster is an available option. Money well spent
