The 12th edition of the Kindle Paperwhite is a fabulous device and well-worth considering if you read a lot. It’s not too big, not heavy, waterproof, and easy to carry in your purse or backpack. Note that if you get a cover with it (highly recommended), when you open the cover the Kindle turns on automatically to the last page you were reading. With the cover open it feels like you’re holding a thin book -- or fold back the cover if you prefer. The Kindle E-reader is not a computer. It’s not a tablet or a phone. It is a gizmo that acts like a book with a black-and-white flat e-ink screen showing typed sentences and paragraphs. You turn pages one at a time, just like a book. There is no movement on the page and no distraction or advertisement*. It is just text, plus any images that the author has included to illustrate his book. *NOTE: The advertisements on the Kindle are on the main page not the individual book pages and just show books you might like. They are unobtrusive. The backlighting, unlike a computer, tablet, or phone, is gentle because the Kindle’s light is directed onto the screen, not into your eyes. You can change lighting level and add warmth (yellow lighting), decide on dark screen or light screen, and change the size of the print to make your reading experience “just the way you like it.” It’s super-simple to access your own ebooks or to find new ones either on your computer or directly on the Kindle. They load in less than a minute onto the Kindle, ready for reading. Keep in mind if you are a reader that ebooks tend to be half or less the price of the same books in print. You can even find FREE ebooks and audiobooks on Amazon and/or use the Libby app (libbyapp.com) to borrow LOCAL LIBRARY books. You may want to consider subscribing to Kindle Unlimited for $12/month so you can download an even wider selection of free ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines from Amazon to keep as long as you want. Can you tell I love my Kindle? I am wowed by having so many books so easily accessible — not like the time I took that 5-hour flight with one crummy poorly written book and nothing else to do. This 12th generation Kindle is fantastic. The battery lasts a long time. The screen is plenty sensitive for page turns and navigation. I go through one or two books a week easy with this little device. Ebooks have revolutionized the publishing industry, and if you are a reader, the Kindle may be exactly what you’re looking for. If you read many ebooks on your phone or a tablet, consider being kind to your eyes with a Kindle. If you are resisting because you aren’t sure you’ll like ebooks as well as print books, I say what the heck, the Kindle may be worth a try. It’s like driving a racing car rather than a horse and buggy. You might decide you love it. * NOTE: To enable TTS (text to speech) so that your kindle can read to you without audiobooks, turn on your wireless headphones or speaker. Then on your Kindle, tap the top of the screen, then hit the three dots on the right. Go to Settings. Hit Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, then Bluetooth Devices. Select your device so your Kindle will recognize it. Next, close the window and go back to Settings. Hit Accessibility, then turn on Voiceview screen reader. The Kindle should start talking to you. If it’s glitchy, just turn off your bluetooth device then turn it on again. Remember that you have to give double taps not single taps on the Kindle to navigate actions. If you want to change the volume or reading speed (I like 1.25x) just double tap on Voiceview screen to show and customize your settings.

I absolutely love my new Kindle. My old one is about 10 years old and still works, which already says a lot about the quality, so I felt confident upgrading—and I’m so glad I did. The setup was very easy, and it wasn’t much different from my older Kindle, so the switch over was smooth and not intimidating at all. What really amazed me is how fast this one is compared to my old device. Everything loads quickly, page turns are smooth, and navigating through books and menus is effortless. It’s also very lightweight, which makes a huge difference. I can hold it for long reading sessions without my arm getting tired or sore. The screen is bright and clear, making it easy to read for long periods without straining my eyes. I also really appreciate the built-in dictionary feature—it’s so convenient to look up words instantly without interrupting the flow of my reading. Overall, this Kindle feels like a perfect upgrade while still keeping everything I loved about the older version. The quality, ease of use, and comfort make it a joy to read on every day.

I needed something non digital to occupy my time before bed, as you see I am focused on improving my sleep. I need to calm my mind. I took up reading but physical books take up space and require light, which is fine until it was closer to bedtime or I woke up in the middle of the night (it’s not good to lay there thinking). The kindle is perfect. The low display brightness, light weight, and unlimited library size it checked all the boxes. The e-ink display is non digital (like an iPad that is bright, full of notifications, colorful, rewarding, etc.), very comfortable on the eyes, and dimmable. I find it incredibly easy to read and comfortable to hold in my hands. I now have access to all the books I could want covering any subject. Instead of computer games, watching TV, or eating; I myself reaching for my kindle to read, learn, and grow. I’m not using this time to increase the depth of my knowledge, improve my thinking, and develop richer communication skills. Experiencing how others express their ideas in words helps clarify the frameworks I use to think, write, and speak.

I was on the fence about buying a kindle for a long time. Listen to me when I say DO IT! It has become an extension of my body at this point. It goes everywhere with me, it’s lightweight and super easy to hold. I have read more in my 10 days since buying it than I have in a really long time. When my boyfriend is sleeping I can still read without having to keep lights on. The screen has no blue light and doesn’t hurt my eyes like reading on my phone does. It connected to my Amazon account super easily and I started reading maybe like 20 minutes after I opened it and downloaded the books I wanted. It integrates with the phone app really well and I can download things on the app and send them to my kindle in a couple of minutes. It allows you to change the font itself and the font size. I currently have it set to a font that helps with dyslexia. I don’t know how it works but it does, I’ve been able to focus more on my books and read them easier. Pictures do not do the screen justice. When you are using it it literally looks like a piece of paper with writing on it. It’s so cool! I have the version with ads and it doesn’t bother me at all, it’s only on the lock screen so I don’t even really see them half the time, I just turn on my kindle and swipe up and they’re gone. They aren’t intrusive and don’t happen when the kindle is on. You can also pay to remove them later which I’m probably not going to do because they don’t bother me at all. The dictionary function is really cool, I love being able to look up words I’m unsure about without having to leave the book. The settings are really easy to understand and change when needed. I don’t use dark mode very often but it’s a nice feature to have. I also love the warmth feature, I didn’t think I would care about it much but it helps with my eye strain. You can also translate words instantly which is really cool! The battery also lasts forever which is nice because I have a habit of forgetting to charge my electronics. It’s also waterproof so if I spill something on it and I’ve already used it to read in a bubble bath. If you’re expecting a tablet you won’t like this, it’s not a tablet. It’s a reading device and a really good one.

Amazing E-Reader bought 2 of my 3 sons one for Christmas and they are obsessed with it. One is an avid reader and the other reads on it frequently. The fit in cases is perfect and on stands is amazing. The adjustable brightness, blue shade adjustability, and the way you can change the mode between light and dark is amazing. The touch screen is super well designed and very responsive. It looks super sleek, and the readability is phenomenal. Overall will recommend to anyone who likes to read. (Side note. not all books are on kindle unlimited) My eldest son’s kindle had an hardware issue and Amazon sent a replacement but do ask customer service if you think something is wrong with it. (The hardware issue was a strange white line going across the screen). Some people think that 16 gigabytes of storage isn’t a lot but that can store about 8 MILLION books.

Kindle Paperwhite, 12th gen. Imho Pros: very lightweight, especially compared to my old, non-Amazon reader. Brightness adjusts easily and widely to the most preferred increment, as does the yellow warmth, which many might like using. And of course, the huge collection of books avalable without needing a totebag?👍 But,for me, disappointing. The 'Paperwhite' shade of ePaper? It's, well, the worst office flourescent bulb-type, or those energy efficient bulbs that came out about 15 yrs ago. I wanted to reduce eyestrain: that was my purpose. But i have to go to dark mode, so i don't need a Kindle for that i will just continue to carry my Fire tablet (my 4th).. And for me yellow tone does nothing to counter blue light? Maybe a rosier tone. Am sadly returning my Kindle Paperwhite, an early holiday gift for myself. Setup was a breeze, and the 7" Kindle is a good size. Several font sizes to perfect a read, and it comes with a well done tutorial, which i advise reading.

I absolutely love this Kindle. It is easy to navigate and to download books. It fits easily in your hand, making reading convenient wherever you are. Are. Once you have built up a library of books on it, you are good for any length of travel or just leisure. A charge lasts for quite a long time, so you don't even really need to panic about how close you are to the end of your battery life. It just goes on and on! I got this color so that it would not be easy to misplace. It will certainly stand out in a crowd. From the look of it, to the feel of it, to its ease of use, the Kindle has to be the best e-reader out there!

If you love to read, this Kindle is a total game changer. The newest Paperwhite is noticeably faster, and the 7" glare-free display is crisp, easy on the eyes, and perfect for long reading sessions—indoors or outside. I can read in bright sunlight with zero issues. The warm light adjustment is one of my favorite features. It makes nighttime reading so much easier and more comfortable, and I don’t feel that eye strain I get from regular screens. The battery life is amazing too—weeks, not days—which makes it great for travel.
