I purchased the shade "Amythyst". I've seen this clear color changing lip balms for a while, namely the "winx" brand at target and ulta. I think I tried one on at ulta and did fancy it. I wanted to buy one for a friend of mine as a Christmas present because she's been wanting one. I did some browsing and ended up going with this brand (catkin). It had the highest rating per review, and the packaging was very pleasing, we both love Asian dramas, so this Chinese brand seemed fitting. I was skeptical about if it would work, the colors looked light on the picture. Naturally, I was going to try it out first and then repurchase for my friend if it met my expectations. And oh my god it so did. First of all, my skin is of a medium complexion with olive undertones, and this showed up beautifully! The color I chose is a light pinkier color on the picture, but on my lips it's a little darker, literally just by a shade, and maybe more red. I made my sister try it out, her skin is darker than mine, by a shade or 2, she has more of a brown complexion with neutral undertones, and on her, it deposited pink, very much like the picture. I don't know the mechanism behind ph changing technology in makeup, but these are my results. Both of us loved it. Second, I don't wear makeup often, and I've gotten out of the habit of wearing any lip color. I used to wear a lot of dark colors, liquid lipsticks, and regular lipsticks, but it's such a hassle to maintain it throughout the day. So, this is such a suitable, happy medium for me. I get to wear some color on my lips without looking overkill. If it smears, the color doesn't slide all over the place. It's just so pretty and natural-looking, which I'm now obsessed with. Now, in terms of the color payoff and how long it lasts, it's almost like a stain, I notice that even if the shine of the balm goes away, there's still a light color left over. I don't find it to be dramatically buildable, you can definitely reapply, but it looks like the same shade just refreshed. Third, I'm very sensitive to the feeling of stuff on my skin. I don't like lotion, or the feel of oil on my skin, I hate gloss and most chapsticks because they tend to slide all over the place. BUT THIS BAAABBBYYYY, oooo boi ! I am so thrilled to have discovered this brand and product, I actually went on their website to buy an entire set of these. If you have severe dry lips, I don't that this really cater or advertises to those problems, but as far as an every day hydrating lip balm this goes above and beyond. It delivers a very light but nourishing feel with it being to slimy or sticky or dry. Its the goldilocks of balms in my opinion. When I have this on, I don't feel tempted to take it off like I do with others because it's just that comfortable. You don't feel it on your lips but it's there. If you've been looking to buy a clear color changing lip product, I highly suggest going with this brand. It's beautiful both in deposit and packaging; it has a magnetic closure which just feels very luxe, secure and durable. The artwork is just gorgeous, it's effective at delivering a nourishing and comfortable layer on the lips along with sporting a beautiful natural color :)

Lovely lip stain. The container is my favorite part, to be honest. Its so gorgeous and great quality. The stain is a pretty natural shade that is noticeable but not to intense. The taste is not my favorite but everything else is so great that it doesn't bother me.

My wife got me to try this CATKIN color-changing lip balm, and I actually love it! She mentioned that it keeps her lips soft and smooth, and the color that shows up looks really natural. The packaging feels fancy too and definitely nicer than most lip balms she used. Only thing is the shade can get a little bright if you layer it too much, but otherwise it’s a great product.

The product itself is a transparent pink hue that gives moisture to your lips. I bought this for the case alone. It is an absolute piece of art in of itself. The quality of the case is exceptional, and even the magnets are so strong. I can see this lasting such a long time that if it ever got lost, someone would find this centuries later and think is was an ancient perfume case or something.

I love-hate these lipsticks, and I’m conflicted whether to give them another chance and buy again. PROS: the formula feels very creamy and lush on the lips, made my lips look hydrated and soft. The colors are truly beautiful and unique. The packaging is exquisite. CONS: just one big one - the stick melts like butter! Don’t even think about carrying them in your purse to re-apply during the day, the thing might and will break in half or get all mushy in the case. I think the formula would work better in a “cream” packaging, to be applied with fingertips or brushes. Not sure I’d buy again.

It was attractively packaged, but the best thing was it worked, the color was nice, the lip balm was really good, and not greasy. I am very pleased.

On occasion I like to treat myself to something under twenty dollars that feels like a luxury. This lip balm was it and it did not disappoint. First, the packaging is gorgeous. The lipstick case itself is so beautiful and has the added bonus of having a magnetic closure. Fantastic. There is something so satisfying feeling how the top snuggles into place. Second, the lip balm itself glides on smooth and silky. It feels exactly like a private label cosmetic brand I recently bought for over twice the price. I wish they had refills as the case on its own is so worth keeping. I might just have to get out one of my old “make your own cosmetics” books and refill it myself once it is used up. But that wouldn’t stop me from buying again! Now I want this same brand in some of their colors. This was just a very barely there color as a balm. Treat yourself. You deserve it!

Beautiful and light formula. Moisturizing, but the moisture doesn't go deep or last for those with dry skin. I'm using it mainly as a nice subtle lip look and wear it by itself for a barely-there glow or add a cream liquid lip tint on top that complements this shade. I also bough shade 13 Seas of Stars. Shade 12 Sirius is closest to my natural complexion. Unlike the Nars Laguna balm, this color can get slightly milky-looking and sit on top of the skin for me if I have a generous layer of moisturizer underneath it. With a thin layer, I'd say this shade shows up better than Laguna shade from Nars. I also like the fun, fine "micro-net" of shimmer that mimics the look of ballerina tulle etched onto the surface of the lipstick!
