Rasta ImpostaThe Original Tam With Dreadlocks

Fun and quick for costume occasions.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. We recently booked a vacation in Jamaica and he joked about growing dreadlocks, if he only had hair. I thought it would be a hoot to get him a Rasta hat with dreads as a joke. He loves it! The catalog image shows more dreads than are actually on the hat, but there's a fair number of them and they look pretty cool. He's going to get a lot of mileage out of wearing this when we're with our travel buddies between now and when we leave for Jamaica in six weeks.

After reading other reviews of numerous other Rasta Tams, I was very concerned about quality. This tam really is crocheted cotton and seems to be good quality. The colors are vibrant, and it is big enough to fit a variety of sizes. The dreads are wool and look like dreads. They are no where near as full as the picture appears. There are exactly 13 of the dread strands on my tam. They are sew a little over an inch apart on the back half of the hat. I would have liked to have them closer together and have more of them, but for the price and compared to other descriptions I have read, I am happy with my purchase.

I bought this to wear at a cancer head-shaving fundraiser. The other reviewers are correct -- the photo shows a few more dreads than I got (mine had 13; the photo has maybe 16?). But I paid only ~$9 w/Prime free shipping and the Halloween store sells them for $20, so I don't feel cheated. The hat material is 100% cotton which I like, and although the hat was too big for me, when I put it on, it didn't matter -- it works, and it made me laugh!

Just got it in. See the pictures I posted. Like others mentioned, the original picture is not what you get. There needs to be about 6 to 8 more dreads to match the picture. The length of the dreads are good, about 18". The hat is good, it doesn't stretch too much and is a bit big, but I guess you could pin it to make it smaller if needed. It fits my head ok, so I'll wear it as is. Overall, it'll work for what I need, but the picture is a bit deceiving.Edit 11-17-12I had added two pictures showing exactly what you get. However, I see the pictures have been removed. Oh well... I tried.

My friends and I were running in a 4k and we wanted these as our costumes. The race was Saturday, I ordered them on Wednesday and I had them by Friday. I ordered 6. The hair is totally sufficient for the hat. One hat came in a bit smaller than the others which was fine because my head is small. The quality is great. Since the hair is wool I thought it might be itchy but it wasn't bad at all. For the price and the quality, I recommend this to anyone.

It says One Size Fits Most but 'most' must mean most little children. I am a small woman and it sat on top of my head, no way was it stretching enough to actually wear, and it definitely didn't have a chance of fitting the teenager it was bought for. Very disappointed. Also the packaging was ripped open and poorly taped back shut, but I'm not sure if that is the seller or Amazon who did that.

Absolutely worth the money for this priceless Halloween photo!So glad we got this for our Doberman. Next I got to figure out how to add straps!
